Poetry Thread Reboot!

Poetry Thread Reboot!
Poetry Thread Reboot!
I'm making a reboot Poetry Thread because the Regular Poetry Thread seems to have disappeared (which is, needless to say, disturbing) and also, no one seemed to be posting on it. And it contained a lot of poetry, so I think it's time for a new one!
I've written two poems, neither of them in my usual style. But here they are anyway.
i was the
girl
on the porch swing who
left footprints
in the
sidewalk and you were
that one boy
who didn't
want to play
with the
others.
we were in the
same class
in elementary school and
i think
we were friends
though we never quite
defined
our relationship.
i remember
your small, rough
hand
in mine
as we ran
across the playground
together.
we climbed
so many
trees
and
swung so
high
it
seems like it
was just
yesterday,
even though
it's been so many
years.
in
middle school
we were
still
friends
and in
language arts
class
you caught my
eye
and
smiled.
our friendship
stayed strong for
many years
until
you told me
that you were
moving
away.
at the
time, we
were both
sitting
in a cafe and
when
you told me,
you seemed
rather
embarrassed
so you
jumped up
and ran
outside.
i followed
you and
underneath
the neon
streetlights
i pleaded
for you to
stay.
but you
left
despite my
tears.
as i watched
you walk
down
the street
it felt
like
a hundred thousand
daggers
were stabbing me.
(i still
feel
them sometimes)
probably
you felt
my
pain
too, but
i've always been
a little
selfish
and at the moment
i didn't
really
care.
we all know
that forgiveness
comes with
a
price;
the only
question
is
how much
are you willing
to pay?
~~~
And this:
come for me, call for me
stumble through the
mist for me, reach for me
cry for me
try to find me, look for me,
strive for me
live for me, die for me.
Good idea, Leafy! I'll post some later. I love yours, especially the first one. The second one almost feels like it's missing something at the end--but still, a beautiful job on both! I love the flow of both poems, too!
