There was nothing
Chatterbox: Pudding's Place
There was nothing
There was nothing but a dark hill, silent and cold that stood underneath a ebony sky. There was no one to climb it, no light to illuminate it, no greenery to turn the rough stones soft. The hill was all that was, and it was all that ever would be.
Once tiny specks of dusty light kept it company, flitting around it. The small lights shone upon the hill; miniature stars that would never, ever lose their brilliance to Death as so many others must. Except they did, and the hill had been alone for uncountable years.
Then one night a man with a sword came. He took it and stabbed holes through the immortal blackness, until starlight spilled through into a deep holllow in the hill. He removed his armor and his boots and bathed in the pool of shining stars for a long, long time.
When he finally emerged, the starlight dripped into his face and made his hair cling to his head. He stood on the damp stones and watched as the light receded back into the sky, until it was if nothing had ever happened. He put his armor on once more, and then he walked silently away.

Thanks, Leafy! I'm not sure where I was going with it, but I'm glad you like it!

I like it too! I think it sounds like a legend, or a history, almost, if you get my meaning.

Thanks, everyone! Leeli, now that I read it again, I think you're right. It feels like a creation myth, in a way. Slightly Tolkien-esque.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking!
