The Poetry Challenge!
Welcome, wonderful poets of the CB! With Bluebirds Regular Poetry thread, and Booksy's Poetry Contest, I was just thinking how much I like to click on those threads and just read through everyone's poetry that I haven't seen yet. But sometimes there is no new poetry to read, which is depressing. Thus The Poetry Challenge was born.
I'm sure you're all dying to know what this Poetry Challenge is. Hang in there a second, I'm getting to that. The basic idea of this is that we exercise our poem writing muscles, practice, improve, and at the end we have a beautiful Poetry Gallery to scroll through. It's a bit of a game, a bit of a prompt, and a bit of a competition all in one.
The rules are simple. We will write as much poetry as we can in the course of one week, and post it here. One poem a day for a week, although you can do more if you feel inspired. I will start by posting a theme, a prompt, or a technique, or any combination of those, and the rest of you will have to write a poem that corresponds with those things each day of the week. Then we can all vote for the most inspiring poem, and that person will become the next 'announcer'. The fun part is, the announcer can play too! Feel free to illustrate your poems and post those, too!
GUIDLINES:
No voting for yourself.
Please don't choose a category just because it's one you'd like (although don't choose a category you don't like either).
You can drop out at any time.
Be kind and respectful (obviously).
The categories must be pretty wide ranged since so many poems will be written from them.
Have fun!
~
To start off the first round, the theme is.............
SUMMER!
Whether you write about the beach, the pool, or the hot sun, summer is here and in full fling!
The optional prompt is: Warlike Arts (This is completely random. Jeopardy is on the Tv and I saw those two words and typed them down on the spot).
Nugget says gven. Given? I've given the gift of this wonderful Poetry Challenge to the world.

May I join? I know I'm late...sorry about that! And I probably wont be able to post everyday or write everyday because I am already writing a bunch of different things everyday, but I will try!

As you all know, today is Saturday. The first round of the Poetry Challenge is over. Some of you may have succeeded in writing every day, and some of you, like me, may have not. Either way, I think you all wrote some a,asking poetry and I would like to congratulate each and every one of you for taking the challenge. Thank you, it's been a pleasure. Now let the voting begin! Everyone may vote for ONE poem. This may be the poem you loved most, the one that inspired you most, or one that sang to your ears in general. But no one may vote more than once, and no one may vote for themselves. That would be cheating! But listen up, you don't have to vote. And if you would like to vote, but didn't participate in this round, that's okay! You don't have to participate to vote! I'll give everyone another week to vote. On Friday I'll count all of your votes and announce who won! Then that person will be the announcer for the next round.
@Silverwaxwing: You most certainly can join! However, this round just ended and we are beginning the voting process. You are welcome to join in on that if you like, or you can just wait until the next round starts and join then. Either way, we would love to have you!

Hey guys, I'm going to be gone until next week, so I probably won't be writing anything.
(July 22, 2017 - 5:57 pm)
I've finally narrowed it down to like five and chosen one of the ones I liked better. My vot egoes to Bluebird with t-shirts. I loved how it showed the passage of time and your transformattion into who you are now. It was a very hard descision to make.
(July 22, 2017 - 7:41 pm)
Can I join for next round?
(July 23, 2017 - 11:05 am)
Of course!
(July 23, 2017 - 3:00 pm)
Oh good, I can vote! Hm, this is going to be hard, though.
Oh, and Leeli. I'd like to try the poetry challenge but I have trouble writing a poem a month, I think I would completely fail if I tried doing it every day....Would it be okay if I started out by writing two poems a week, and then expanded from there once I gained confidence?
I'm going to scroll through all the poems and then post my vote.
@People! Just because you do this doesn't mean you can't also post on the poetry thread! Keep it alive!
(July 23, 2017 - 3:13 pm)
Yes, you can certainly do that! Maybe I'll make the minimum amount of poems one or two a week, but if you feel inspired enough you can shoot for one a day.
(July 23, 2017 - 7:42 pm)
Thanks, Leeli!
(July 24, 2017 - 9:22 am)
Alright, I vote for September's untitled poem that starts: "If you're in the moment, chooose now/to stay in it"
(July 23, 2017 - 3:18 pm)
To the top!
(July 26, 2017 - 12:17 pm)
Ugh, I wish I joined this! I spent the last 20 minutes looking at so much amazing poetry and I wish I could join in!
(July 29, 2017 - 10:09 am)
@Leeli! Are you going to count the votes? Not that there's very many votes and I think Bluebird and September are tied because they're the only ones that got voted for. XD
(July 30, 2017 - 12:51 pm)
Hi, I'm back! I vote for September's poem that starts with /summer nights i find myself wandering/.
(August 1, 2017 - 4:17 pm)
Okey doke! I'm voting for September's poem, Camp Song, which means, congrats Sep, you won! I can't wait to see what theme and prompt you come up with next. In second place is Bluebird! Congrats! You both deserve it, you both wrote such amazing poetry.
