Creation Game!

Sometimes, people need a new game, a new way to flex their creativity muscles, so this is a weird exercise I thought of on the bus. Ready?

There are four people. The first two people are in charge of coming up with a world. Don't spend too much time on this, this is for fun, not for publishing. One comes up with basic guidelines for the landscape of the world, for example: “It's a barren, icy desert with no plants whatsoever.” Write about a paragraph of it, not too much. The second person describes the people. Example: “Their entire culture revolves around water. They worship it, their religion consists of water gods. They are small in height and weight, with dark hair and blue eyes.” Again, about a paragraph.

The third person makes either an outline or a draft of a story in this world. I’d suggest an outline, as drafts are embarrassing, but do what you want. And finally, the last person uses the outline to write out the story, add writing devices like similes, and generally make it a well-written story.

I'm excited to see what sort of crazy things we’ll make! For the first round, I’ll be person 3.
