I'm inspired by the song "Fireflies" by Owl City to write a poem

A Starry Night

As I watch from the windowsill
The stars float from the sky
Becoming tiny flashlights in the air
It makes me remember time passes

I press my fingers against the glass
To see if I can push through and touch one
But the only thing that happens
Is that my fingerprints dance across the glass

Then the wind comes fast
And blows my window wide open
And the fireflies glide in
Dancing and landing on everything

They are hopes and dreams
Of other people out there
I've added to that collection
A million different times

I'm too awake to sleep
Too busy watching the bugs
I don't dare catch one in my hands
For fear of blowing it out

And then time stops
And the wind flows backward
And the lights drift out the window
Leaving me to wait for another night

And then I'm sitting at the window again
Looking out at the stars
As bright as the hopes and dreams
And the stars everyone's forgotten
