Instrumental Music Thread!

This is a place to talk about your favorite composers/pieces, because I know a lot of CBers like this type of music. Do you like it? What do you like or play? Any recommendations?

My favorite composer is Ólafur Arnalds, and here's why you HAVE to start listening to his music right now. I'm not someone who listens to classical/instrumental music, but this guy is amazing. His songs just feel... deeper. They're beautifully composed, great for inspiration, and awesome background music while writing. The best part is that if you end up liking his music and wanting to play it yourself, he gives away his sheet music for free! He's also still coming out with new music- his latest (album? collection? I'm just going to say work) was made in October 2016. Please, please, try listening to his music, you won't regret it.

Some of my favorite songs by him (If you're wondering what to listen to first) are: This Place Was a Shelter; Doria; Happiness Does Not Wait; Dalur; and Particles.

Thanks for reading!

Lindsey Stirling is my all-time favorite music artist, as well as my idol/mentor. She plays really beautiful violin music, and it's a mix of music types. She's done a lot of covers, (including for LoTR, BEST COVER EVER) and as of last summer she has 3 full albums out. Her music is really good for dancing to, or just listening to, or using for inspiration for poetry. Sometimes it's bouncy, sometimes it's calm. And her music videos are really beautiful, too. She dances to her music while she plays, and it's her own combination of ballet and modern. She also has really amazing costumes and sets. It's on my bucket list to go to one of her concerts. (Sadly, though, I think she's in Australia right now.)

Aaaaa Olafur Arnalds yes!! I love This Place Was a Shelter and the entire Variations of Static album, especially The Sky May Be Falling, but the Stars Look Good On You.

If you like his stuff, have you heard Sigur Ros or Jonsi? Both Icelandic groups as well with some real talent. Aside from that I really like Ratatat, Mt. Marcy, Baths, and Gold Panda. Trying to learn keyboard myself but I suck and at the moment I'm just mixing others' samples, but it's a good place to start I suppose.
