Regular poetry thread
Regular poetry thread (because I'm tired of not editing my poems)
This is exactly what it sounds like! A thread to post poetry. I'm excited to read all of your work!

This is, like, perfect! Love it!

Aaand more (I don't like the title. I couldn't think of anything though. Does anyone have suggestions? I was thinking something like "ode to..." except that Bluebird used that as a title.)
for you (on december 15th)
ooh la la, love
you're my blazing star
a firework exploding
constellations in the sky
i love you to the burning kisses on my cheeks
and your bright-as-mars eyes

Not sure what the heck this is. It’s rather terrible, which illustrates it even better.

It's not terrible! It's super creative, and I think both the words and the writing are really elegant expressive.

Aw, thanks, Marigold. ^-^

I just wrote this today and I kinda like it, so I thought I'd post it. Sorry if it's a bit depressing.
comparative
words, tailor-made to hurt in
the dark recesses of her mind,
come spinning out of her mouth
and tinge everything they touch
a darker shade than it was
before, when she was the sweetest
she is under a curse wrought
by her own fear that
pulls her underwater until she is
so smothered she cannot control her own
sinking slowly, through the black water
down to the darkest depths
she floats, staring unseeingly
at the surface too far
above where she could

I wish I could gather everything
I say
and think
and feel about you
into a bowl and let you sip it.
and then you would know:
It is all true

Oh, wow, that’s really good. It’s so short, yet so much depth is packed into those few lines. It’s also extremely relatable. I love it, great job!

I love this. It feels really organic and real. Kind of like a piece of wood. (Yeah, I don't know either.) But I really like the simplicity and how the last line hits you.

This is really good, Cockleburr! I have no critique to give it. ^^

'on finding higher powers in a thunderstorm' or, 'holy water'
i like when sky blanket clouds are only semi-opaque
and everything is covered in this desaturated pewter
we stood behind the glass as raindrops hit the windows on the flip side
our condensed breath
spreading in imperfect circles.
there is something
about running home in
a downpour and
when you gasp for breath
tilting your head to the
grey
heavens like
you could drink salvation
in the form of
little raindrops

Ooh! I like this. I feel like it really captures a moment, in every emotional dimension, which is one of the many things I look for in a good poem. It summons images in my mind, of wet hair flapping behind grinning, fatigued figures and feeling contrstingly cozy while watching lightning illuminate the world outside, as it is pelted with rain and wind... It just hits me in the right way.
