Poetry Contest
Poetry Contest
Well, we haven't had one of these in a while, have we? Time for a new one, I say! Welcome, resident poets!
The rules are pretty simple. I am the first judge. I will give you a theme, and you must write a poem relating to the theme. Be creative with your interpretations! I will then judge the entries by a set date, and the winner will then be the next judge, and set the next theme. And so on, and so forth.
The first theme will be... *dramatic drumroll*
Stars! Whether you chose to write about the kind of stars you wish on, or the kind that take the stage, I will be eagerly awaiting your sparkly, shiny, beautiful poems. Have them in by... Saturday, March 18. Two weeks. Sound fair?
I hope to see your poems soon!

Do you guys want me to extend the deadline?
(March 18, 2017 - 11:45 am)
Here's mine!
~~
They say
Shoot for the stars
How? In a rocket?
Don't understand
To shoot a star?
Like
To Kill a Mockingbird
No--
They say
Reach for the stars
How? Climb a mountain?
Don't understand
So high up
Too far
Can't reach them.
They say
Find your star
How? Don't have a star
Don't understand
I have a star, they say
I do?
Where?
I'll find it
Somewhere
Up there in the sky.

Okay, since only two poems have been submitted (thanks Leafpool and Destiny!) I'm extending the deadline to Tuesday. Please post!

Here's my poem:
Lost
Never growing older
seems like a fine prospect on this desolite night
Following Peter Pan and his pals to Neverland
But I'm too
thirsty for a sip of rain
tired of walking toward nothing
hungry for a home
to wish...to hope for such a thing as escape from this deadly, mysterious night
From which I walk on twisted weeds, and forever darkness whirling around like a cyclone
And then I see
light
Blinding, shining.....light full of hope
As suddenly as Neverland enters my mind, a legend of a star of great power and hope enters my mind
They call it
The North Star
And while Peter will fly towards Neverland on his own star
I will use the North Star
My very own star
To fly towards my home

@Admins: I'm thinking of posting a poem about stars, but I was planning on entering it in a real contest. Is it possible to post it for now, and then later delete it if O ever want to publish it or anything? Thanks!
We might have trouble finding it on Chatterbox at a later date to delete it. You know how threads sometimes disappear. It's probably better to save it until after any contest.

Hi! I haven't posted in forever, but the theme inspired me so I wrote this!
A Star
Some say that a star is a wish,
a light in the dark,
a hope for lost souls,
a floating lantern that lost its way.
How can the residue
of a thousand thousand hopes and dreams and
human lives
cling to this star – this mass of boiling fire
suspended in empty fields of endless dark?
A star is a pinhole in the long night's cloak.
A star is a ray of forever when all that is close says now.
A star is a reminder of the magnitude of the cosmos,
so empty and yet so full of terrible wonder,
and us, with our small bright lives that cling to meaning.
A star is a light in the dark.
A star is a wish.

Aaaah!!! I forgot, sorry! Is there a possiblity for a deadline extension?
(March 20, 2017 - 4:34 pm)
Alright, since it seems that many people forgot the deadline is extended until Friday, with judging on Saturday.
