Poetry Thread!

I know heaps of CBers do beautiful poetry, and I really wanted to read some of your amazing work!

Here's one I wrote last year:

Delicate snowflakes gliding down,

A glistening, crystal, icy crown.

A perfect drop of sparkling snow,

With silver icicles all in a row.

The shining grey-white mingled sky,

I want to cry,

I don't know why.

I hope you guys like it!

Enjoy!

That's an amazing poem, BookBug! I'm not very good at writing poetry, BookBug, but I sure like reading it!

Okay... I have not written any decent poetry at all lately, but this is sort of a short metaphor for myself. My sister was giving me random facts from one of her magazines- who knew I'd find inspiration there! (whales' hearts are actually this big!)

whale

i must be part whale

for my heart is as big as a mid-sized car

what you must remember

is that things with

big hearts can

still

be

blue

I love that! I like the simplicity and I can definitely relate.

And BookBug's poem is delightfully visible.

My CAPTCHA (Eugene? Cinnamon? Dribble?) is completely incoherent today; 'xmyr.' Me too, Jigglemiester, me too.

Here, have some more random poetry. This one's about my sister (who you may know as Lavender. She doesn't post very often) (also, the apostrophes are for stanza breaks or whatever you call them)

sister (alternate title- storm) (idk I can't title or finish things???)

a little girl with

wide eyes and

terra cotta freckles

jumps as thunder rumbles outside

she sleeps with all

the lights on and

even

that won't stop her from

running into my room, saying

"i'm scared"

`

"can you sleep with me tonight?"

`

i wasn't going to get much

sleep anyway

(test tomorrow)

so

rubbing my eyes that the sandman had visited

i nod, a groggy

2 AM voice saying

"fine."

`

she surrounds herself with a multitude of

stuffed animals

nothing showing but her face under a

soft striped blanket, and bony olive fingers that match my own

clutch a light purple pillow

`

i'm fine with sleeping on the floor

(i'm fine with most things,

actually)

as the rain pounds down on roof

she asks, voice quivering,

"why is the sky so angry?"

`

maybe because of little girls like you who are

so scared of storms that

they wake up with dark circle under their eyes, or

don't wake up at all

(because they never slept in the first place)

`

maybe the sky just wants to be loved, whether

it's crystal clear and beautiful or

dark and

raging

BookBug your poem was amazing!

Here's one I composed in bed when I couldnt fall asleep. :P

Autumn Leaves

A strong wind blows,

A tree is struck,

colors swirl though the air

Gathering slowly,

Towards

Towards teh earth,

Covering,

In a blanket of autumn leaves.

P.S. I want to submit this for the cricket league contest this month.

The fox and the hound
The great, clear night is midnight blue,
Through the woods, hurry through.
Hear my bark. Danger close by.
The wind will bring my warning cry.
Run, my friend, far away,
We'll meet again another day.
My master comes, with a gun,
And a dog colored like the sun.
Just because you leave, doesn't mean you're forgot,
It only means you're being sought.
Hurry now, to your tree.
From my master, quickly flee.
For though it may seem strange, a fox and a hound,
Together, we are both safe and sound.
this was sort of inspired by the movie.
