THE ULTIMATE ART
THE ULTIMATE ART CONTEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys, KG here. I've been wanting to do an art contest for a VERY LONG WHILE but never really got around to it since 1. I've been Busy 2. I've been Very Busy 3. I have been completely PULVERISED WITH THE AMOUNT OF BUSINESS THAT IS METIORITING ON TOP OF ME. So ya. ;)
Now don't go thinkin' this is another art thread for all the "art geeks" to hang out cuz' it isn't. (and really, truthfully we're all art geeks so nobody could really push anyone else out;) This art contest is going to have a PRIZE! yes my lieges a PRIZE! WHICH, I'll explain it a little more later on. But first, let me ilaterate on a few things.
First off to keep things fair there will be THREE rounds. The point of having three is so if you didnt get a place in the first round you can try again in the second and third. That way different people can have a chance of winning teh prize instead of the same people who win in all the other art contests. Over and over and over and over again. (note: this will be explained in much beter detail later on so if you have questions keep reading)
Second each round will have a different theme (ex. animals, people, nature etc.) That way if your awful at drawing, say a rabbit you can still show off your (amazing) talent by drawing a person. Make sense? (This too will be better explained later on)
And three; Leeli cornered this problem on her art contest that; not all of us are good at drawing realistic. And that is totally fine, everyones different, be proud of it. So there will be three categories, realistic, creative, and other. Let me explain these:
~Realistic~
Like I said before not all of us are going to draw a perfect photorealistic picture, and that is completely fine. But some of us can do it and that is why they get this category. This is not discriminating against people who can't draw fingers absolutely perfect or get the fur on a dog to just the right shade. Its just some people are better at that kind of stuff and other people are better at other things. But taht's how the world works so accept it, and love it;) This category will be judged on: shading, form, realisticity (duh), and color.
~Creative~
Alright for those of you who are now like; yeesh KG your not even giving us a chance! Well you need not worry any longer for this category is for you! Manga, abstract, whatever go ahead and pile it on here! This category will be judged one; creativity (of course), use of space(backgrounds and stuff), and color.
~Other~
Now this category is for everyone whose like; well what if I don't want to draw? Well this category is for basically everything besides the pen on paper art. Yes sewing is art. Yes legos (if it's your own design) is art. Yes pottery, origami, architecture, and photography is all art. This category will be judged on: color mostly, and design.
Note: This is for all the categories but mostly the "other" category. Since most of the entries from here will be 3D that means they must be photographed. Now believe me I know how bad a kindle, or a tablet's camera can be. This means that ugh the horror you will have to use an actual (good) camera and your photography skills when entering picture of you work. (Note: if i'ts something like a piece of pottery try getting a few picture from different angles. This will really help me judge it better) For For flat entries (like paintinsg and such) I would recommend using a scanner (if you have a printer it should already have one built in) to scan your art then uploading it on to your computer.
~The Rounds~
As I said before, to make this contest as fair as possible there will be three rounds. For each round there will be three winners, one from each category. If someone has already won a round they CANNOT enter again. An example is if Rogue1 won the realsitic contest they could not enter again, even into another category. If you have won you go into the fourth round which is where all the winners go against each other to come out with the three grand winners who will recieve the prize. (if you have any questions just ask in the comments) for the fourth round instead of me judging we will have a CB wide vote with everyone going under anonymous so nobody can point fingers. (Ill explain voting more when it comes to it)
~Themes~
The themes will be:
1. Fantasy (mythical beast etc)
2. Real life (People, work etc)
3. And Nature (plants, scenery, animals, etc)
~Rules~
1. Everything MUST be your own work. It is a severe theft of someone else's property if you copy something off the internet and then claim it as your own. Please don't do it.
2. Everything msut be appropiate for say, a nine year old.
3. Please stick to the themes, it does help judging so please help me in doing that.
4. Please state which category your entering before you post your entry, that way I can judge you according to the category you entered.
5. Dont be a sore loser. We win and lose, no need to make a big deal about it:)
6. Each round lasts one week, all entries** must be made during that time.
7. Have fun of course!
And now -
~The PRIZE~
No Im not handing off money (you wish) the prize (in fact) will be a custom profile picture! *throws confetti* I have a sample Ill post below when this gets posted. But ya:)
I will be doing them on medibang on my kindle since that all I have right now*pouty face* so the prize may take a week or two to finish. But I'll do my best;)
Feel free to ask questions!
~KG
**Except for stuff from the "other" category. You may submit entries from the past year.

I'm entering! I'll be drawing a Creative picture. Is digital art acceptable?
(January 21, 2017 - 12:17 pm)
Yay it posted! Thanks Admins! Here's the sample...
Also TOOOP!

Yep, digital's tottally fine. Since its a bit different from regular pen on paper art digital will be judged a bit differently but as long as I know its digital it should be fine:)
(January 21, 2017 - 4:21 pm)
So the theme of the first round is Fantasy, and you can choose whether to do a Realistic, Creative, or Other art for it? Then I will do a Creative entry for round 1. Tell me if I'm getting this completely wrong, though.
And can I do an entry that's still kind of realistic but is also creative? I'm thinking of drawing a girl riding a dragon, but can it still be in the Creative section if the girl and dragon are realistic-ish? If not, then I'll switch to the Realistic section. Because I'm just not sure if I'll be able to get shading and all that well.
I know, I'm asking really confusing questions. Sigh.
(January 21, 2017 - 2:32 pm)
I was wondering the same thing! I would say the Creative section.
(January 21, 2017 - 5:34 pm)
Can I submit a picture on lined paper? Will the lines running through the picture affect its score?
(January 21, 2017 - 6:31 pm)
(January 21, 2017 - 7:18 pm)
I'm joining! Ill start the drawing now!

(January 21, 2017 - 8:48 pm)
I'm definitely joining! My piece will be in the Creative category.
(January 21, 2017 - 8:53 pm)
Awesome idea! But since I have school (and finals next week) I don't have time to make any new artwork. The most recent was like two days ago, but it was for a friend and I never took a picture of it.
So on the themes, are those for each round? Or can I pick and choose? Say, if I was to enter in the Realistic category, and chose to do the Nature theme, will that work? Or is it more of a round?
Thanks!

Your completely fine leafpool! If you think you're better for creative go ahead! Creative is mostly for manga, abstract, pop art, digital or just wildly designed. (Like a cupcake riding a cauliflower dragon:P) Realistic is more for the less dramatic styles, like sketches, drawing, paintings, pastels the classic sort of stuff like the one you described. But if you think Creative is easier for you go ahead!
@Ashlee, you can totally enter it! It'll be fine as long as I havnt seen it before. I do want poeple to put some effort into their art instead of submitting a decent pic they drew from like five years ago. As for the rounds; the three rounds all have a theme, fantasy, life, and nature. So you enter a category with a drawing(or another piece of art) according to the theme.
Ex. Rogue1 enters a drawing into the realistic category. The theme is nature, therefore the drawing is themed to nature; a fox den, plants, a waterfall etc. Does thatthat make sense? Plz tell me if it doesn't:3
@I forgot who asked this question, but no you will not be marked down for the quality of the paper, only the art itself.
And @Admins, this is a large things to ask for but I was wondering if we could run a poll for the art contest (like the one for the power origin story in kyndom) if not that is totally fine. I just think it'd be fairer and a lot more productive way of counting votes, but its totaly fine if not I was just wondering;)
I'll pass your request on, but I think it's highly unlikely Admin would be able to set that up on Chatterbox. But you're welcome to ask others for their opinion and preferences yourself on the thread.
