What do you listen to? What do you reccomend? What are those lyrics that play over and over (and over) inside your head?

I just listening to "In my Arms" by Plumb and it gave my chills. So good. So real. So sad. Excuse me, I have to go cry...

...okay I'm back. I have been listening to a few Hamilton songs (for tenative listeners, try "Schuler Sisters" "Helpless" and "Satisfied), and (as always) FOR KING AND COUNTRY SONGS! "Ceasefire" also gives me chills. As would "Run Wild," but I have listening to it so many times that it doesn't anymore :)

I like odd music. I like Home Free (an A Cappella band), I like Steep Moutain Rangers (country), but I also like Roar, Rise, Blank Space, Sia, and David Cook.

mainly, I write my own music and then memorize that. I love songwriting! When I do listen to music, I enjoy pop and 80s rock. I also like listening to songs from broadway musicals, like Matilda the musical, newsies, wicked, and into the woods.

I love Sia! Her voice is so amazing, and I like the messages in her songs. What are your favorites by her? Mine are probably Reaper or Alive.

Personally, I feel that modern radio music isn nearly as good as it used to be. I like a lot of older songs. As in, like, a couple of 201, but mostly 2014 and older. I just don like the music they play on the radio anymore. It makes me kind of sad. I love Christina Perri, Hamilton, Pentatonix (I was subscribed to their channel before they suddenly got really popular!Smile) and a random variety of other older songs. I also like listening to a lot of Celtic instrumental music. I don know why, I just think it sounds so beautiful. Especially the flute and violin music.

Oh! I really like I See Fire, sung by Ed Sheeran, featured in the movie The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

I like a select few songs from In the Heights.

Hmm... Some songs from Wicked are really good. My favourite would likely be "No Good Deed". It was what helped me get through a particularly grueling swim practice without crying. No joke. But thatś a story for another time.

I love Carol of the Bells by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I learn a small piece of it on the piano and it made me so proud of myself for a little while. Then. I got really frustrated with it because I couldn't find any more good tutorials or sheet music that I could actually read.

I love the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song.

Anything else? I don't think so. Essentially, I like meaningful, beautiful music. Anything in the minor key, I'll usually absolutely adore. I love music in the minor key because it sounds so wonderfully, hauntingly, pretty!

Alright, I'm going to end the post before I go on a rant about music. I am fairly open minded when it comes to music, so I'll probably go listen to all of your song suggestions as soon as I get home.

Taylor Swift for life!!

Okay, time to nerd out! I wrote a form for reviews that I use:

Artist/Musical Name: Hamilton! (I know, sorry Daisy. I respect your opinion. To make up for it we can talk about Taylor Swift later!)

Appropriate-ness: NO CHILD'S EARS! I would actually say an older, Musical Theater kid (fits me perfectly).

How I listen to it: I sort of soak up the setting. The storyline of Hamilton is beautiful, but some of the lyrics and songs aren't. I really love the Schuyler Sisters though!

Pros: Some of the songs are pretty cool, and Alexander Hamilton's life is just BEAUTIFUL to listen to and read about! (Except for the part with she-who-must-not-be-named.)

Cons: LANGUAGE. And she-who-must-not-be-named. Also, if rap/pop isn't your music style (not entirely mine) then it's okay to not like it/to hate it.

Aww Kestrel you got me so excited that someone else likes In the Heights!

Anyone who likes Hamilton should try out In the Heights. It has the same problem with swears and content, but the inappropriate stuff is just the characters joking around or gossiping. It's probably also more confusing that Hamilton because while Hamilton is completely sung through, In the Heights functions like a normal musical and has scenes in between. It's also harder to understand and has a little bit of Spanish, but overall amazing. It also has a really good message about immigrants that really applies to the country right now. Agh, I have to go. Bye!

My taste in music is pretty weird, but my thoughts on this are- why listen to music you don't like? Honestly, I like more individual bands and song than actual genres, but I listen to a lot of alternative. FALL OUT BOY IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! I love Twenty One Pilots, too. And Halsey. And Sia. And Alessia Cara. Songs with a good message are what get me- I listen to lyrics more than the average person. I think. So yeah, I like some really unknown songs such as:

Fantasy by Alina Baraz and the Galimatias

Particles by Olafur Arnalds

Ophelia by The Lumineers

Runaway(U & I) by Galantis

Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood

Don't by Ed Sheeran (probably more well known than the rest, though)

Kamikaze by MØ

And many more. But I also like a few popular songs like Chandelier by Sia, New Americana by Halsey, and Here by Alessia Cara. I'm very open-minded when it comes to music. So, if you guys have any suggestions, I'd be happy to listen to them!

Also, this song by Bastille called Good Grief gets so stuck in my head! It seems like I listen to it once and I'm singing it for like, three days.

Not really recommending anything, just sharing...I listen to a broad range of music, including some pop. I am particularly fond of songs that tell stories. The lyrics don't necessarily have to be elaborate, but the simpler the lyrics are, the more important word choice and the accompanying music is for me. And I have to like both the music and the lyrics.  There are songs where I love the music, but there's just something about the lyrics that I don't particularly like -- and I'm not referring to coarse language here which I'm fine with -- and I find that I just can't listen to those songs. Same is true for the reverse. As to what I've been listening to, I'm feeling out of sorts lately so the songs I've been listening to are a mix bag, some uplifting and others less so.

REGINA SPEKTOR: Remember Us to Life (album)
BECK: The Information (album), Sea Change (album), and Morning Phase (album). The last two are not for the sleep deprived.  They are really mellow in sound if not in content and may put you to sleep if you are overly tired to begin with.
NICK DRAKE: Pink Moon (album) and Five Leaves Left (album).  "Place to Be" in particular is sort of stuck in my head right now.
SARA BAREILLES: Blessed Unrest (album).
FLORIST: I'm not really familiar with all of the music from this band, but I love their "Cool and Refreshing" song.  It's a fairly short reflective song which sort of goes with my mood right now.
