Music!

What kind of things do you all listen to? Some of my favorite artists are Alessia Cara, Regina Spektor, Owl City, and you can find me playing Hamilton on occasion. (Usually The Schylur Sisters. Empowring women: WORK!)

Alessia Cara has such an amazing voice, oh my pie, you have to listen to some of her songs. Another plus! My favorites of hers are Scars to Your Beautiful and Seventeen. Plus, River of Tears always makes me cry a, well, river of tears.

I recently started listening to Regina Spektor because I was binge-watching fanmade Gravity Falls PMVs (anyone else? Just me? Okay) and stumbled on a rather feels-y one to Two Birds. That particular song is from a while ago, but it's so sweet and melancholy and has to be my favorite. Plus, her songs have so much meaning and her voice is totally spectacular. If you're looking to listen to a couple, I reccommend Two Birds, Eet, Blue Lips, Firewood, and Grand Hotel.

And I already made a fan-thread about Owl City a while back. Here it is if you're interested (probably not): http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/downtoearth/node/249712

So... yeah! What do you guys normally listen to? Who are your favorite artists? Can I get some song recommendations? I'm looking for some quiet, background writing-music. Having Two Birds on reapeat for an hour is getting tiresome. :P

I have no idea how to end this...

I listen to a lot of different genres, mainly because my family cannot agree on one. My mom likes country, my dad likes oldies and rock, and my sister likes cheery pop- and I think if you listen to the same songs enough they grow on you. I also go through days where I listen to rap and bands like Of Mice and Men, but those days don't come very often. Most of all I listen to Fall Out Boy, Twenty One Pilots, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Arctic Monkeys, and other bands like that. I really like Alessia Cara and Halsey, too.

Probably half the songs on my iPod are For King and Country songs. My faves are Long Live and Run Wild. And another thing...they were HERE! Less than an HOUR AWAY! At the FAIR!! And I couldn't go see them because no one except me wanted to drive all the way to the fair on a Friday night. Oh well. I saw them in March.

For background music I usually play some random electronica stuff. Ratatat is a favorite. When I'm planning on actually sitting down and listening to something, it's mostly math rock or old crowded house albums.

Oh, I listen to all sorts of stuff. Owl City, Lindsey Stirling, Taylor Davis, Jennifer Knapp, Jars of Clay, the Beatles, Coldplay, Piano guys, mostly stuff from the early 2000's.

Ahh music threads are my favorite :) be prepared for a super long comment

for quiet background writing music, I like to listen to acoustic rock, or indie. One good indie singer is Chris Garneau. He's pretty great.

I am a huuuuge pop punk/alternative rock/classic rock music person. I really love Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots, Muse, All Time Low, Electric Century, Coldplay, Queen, the Cranberries, Frank Iero and the Paitience, Gerard Way, With Confidence, Paramore, some Halsey and I also listen to Rhett and Link songs. As you can tell, I'm big on bands, less on solo singers (though I love Gerard Way. Like a lot).

My current favorite songs are Remedy by Frank Iero and the Patience, and Time is Running Out by Muse, though it changes frequently.

Abi, what genre is Regina Spektor? I've never heard of her, but I'm willing to listen to a few of her songs :)

I also really like Imagine Dragons and TOP.

Regina Spektor is kind of countryish/classical/pop. I can't really classify it as an exact genre, but her voice is super pretty. ^^

Both my parents are big music buffs and have a big music collection so I've been exposed to lots of different kinds of music.  With the exception of heavy metal, I can pretty much listen to any kind of music live. Below are some artists/bands that I like in particular.  Going to just list them as they come to mind.

Tori Amos
Regina Spektor (She actually reminds me a little bit of Tori Amos, but they are also very different artists. Her new album is great, btw.)
Nick Drake (beautiful guitar playing; poetic lyrics)
Alexi Murdoch (reminds me a little bit of Nick Drake)

Creedence Clearwater Revival
REM
Cowboy Junkies
Beatles
PJ Harvey (her later albums in particular. Let England Shake is awesome.)
Noah and the Whale
Barbra Streisand (Her voice is pure heaven.)
One Republic
Lucy Dacus
Kevin Morby
Caroline Rose
St. Vincent
Neko Case
Beck
Do like classical music but for some reason, I can never remember who did what or the name of the pieces, even of the popular ones. The exception to this is Rachmaninoff, especially his Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.
