Musical Quote Guessing
Musical Quote Guessing Game!
Alrighty! This game is pretty self explanatory: One person posts a quote from a musical (soundtrack, not dialogue, please) and then another person guesses what musical it's from! Extra points if you can name the song Then they post the next guote.
Please wait for all the comments to be posted, make sure that the quotes you post are from kid-appropriate musicals, don't use the Internet for guessing, yada, yada, yada.
One thing to pay aattention to: Please don't post multiple quotes from the same musical. For example, if I posted a Hamilton quote, you wouldn't ever post another Hamilton quote in this thread.
Except for Hamilton references. Post as many references as you need to keep yourself satisfied. :)
First quote (a pretty easy one to get us started):
"Just because you find that life's not fair it
Doesn't mean that you just have to grin and bear it."

So this sounds like someone who gets into trouble...the trouper lights are probably the police lights. But they're saying it won't matter that they get caught because somewhere in the crowd is their lover. What crowd? Is it a crowd of people getting in trouble like him, or bystanders? Is this West Side Story maybe? No, that doesn't sound right. I don't know this one. The language is more modern than that. This almost sounds like a pop song, maybe before the 2000s. Maybe a pop-say musical? Still can't guess.

This was Daisy who posted that. Nope! It's from the musical, Mamma Mia and the song is Super Trouper. Great movie.

Here's a quote:
"I'm a general. Whee!!!!"

Easy! Hamilton, the battle of Yorktown. The quote is by Lafayette! And Angelica's quote is from Stay Alive, the person being Charles Lee.
Funny, it took so long for people to quote Hamilton because so many people know it. A quote would have been guessed right away!

I know now! It's Super Trouper from Mama Mia!

Ok...nobody officially guessed the song for OTR's original post, and that's "Naughty" from Matilda. Owlgirl's is from "One Day More" from Les Miserables. Love that song!
Sorry if this interrupts the flow of posting, but I would like to give one:
Can you remember back when you were young?
When all the simple things you did were so much fun.
You got lost somewhere along the way
You've forgotten how to play, every single day.

Sounds like someone's not having fun.
Hmmm...AHA your location gave it away. Finding Neverland! I've never seen it, and i've only heard one song, but i know the plotline, so.

"Your father said Usnavi!
That's what we'll name the baby!"
"It really said U.S Navy,
But hey."

Haha, totally In the Heights. Once again, I shamefully have heard a one or two songs (I know, I know, I plan on going through the soundtrack). I don't recognize the song, but I know it's from In the Heights (written by and starred in by Lin!) because in the opening song he says "I am Usnavi and you've prob'ly never heard my name..."
I'm aceing this! Well, kind of. I've guessed all the musicals the quotes are from, except for Gared's and ?'s.
My turn! Okay this is a hard one, since it's actually a mini-musical...you might not be able to guess it. I'll give a hint if you can't.
Seriously, these kids need to learn
There are consequences in life
I'm doing my job
I'm doing it right
I'm making life safer one school at a time...

21 Chump Street! The song is "One School."
Also, the song is "Hundreds of Stories." Yes, it's from in the heights.

Wow, Riddler, you really know your Lin stuff! XD
Here's a new one. May be easy for some people, may be hard for others.
When the band began to play, the stars weren't shining bright
But now the milkman's on his way and it's too late to say good night
So good mornin!

'Good Morning' from Singin' In the Rain!
Try this one:
Why are you telling me?
My new philosophy
The teacher gave a 'D' on last weeks homework!
(August 18, 2016 - 6:41 pm)
Yup yup yup, I know this one! It's My New Philosophy from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, the musical. The song is sung by Sallie/Kristen Chenowitz!
