Winners of Photography Contest Thread!
If you didn't know, there is a Photo Contest Thread that is coming to a close. The judges are deciding the winners. This is a thread for the judges to post the results so everyone can see it. (I am judge of the Beautiful and Object category. I will probably post the results tomorrow.)
The five categories were Nature, Cool, Object, Beautiful, and Computerized.
Winners of the Cool Category have been announced already by Ashlee G. I will repost the results here:
Cool Category judged by Ashlee G
So, after much time and consideration, I have come to a conclusion for the results. Mind you, this was a very hard choice, for I have found all the photos entered to be stunning, absolutely stunning. Even if you didn't place, keep in mind, you have natural talent in photography, and be willing to try again another day!
DRUM ROLE PLEASE *drum role*
1st place belongs to someone who takes beautiful pictures, where colors seem to flow together perfectly. This person is Mei-xue with her Dynamic Photo (page 5)! Congratulations, this photo really caught my attention with its perfect shine of colors and style. Great work!
2nd place belongs to a person with a natural skill in creating proper angles with the object to create the desired effect. This person is Hidden with their Hand Photo (page 4)! Congratulations, this photo caught my eye due to the special effects, making it look almost like a butterfly with your hand. Great work!
3rd place belongs to someone with a creative eye and perspective, always finding new angles and shots to take with their camera. This person is Mei-xue with her Acrobatic's Show Photo (page 6)! Congratulations, this photo grabbed my attention due to the wonderful lights and colors bursting throughout the picture during the show. Great work!
Again, this was a very hard choice to make. All of the pictures were beyond the "Cool" requirements. They were, as previously stated, absolutely stunning. I apologize to Mei's third photo, Joan's photo, and Butterfly's photo. I love all three of those, but they just couldn't make it. Again, I say congratulations to everyone who participated. Great work, and keep on taking pictures!

I know, I've never had it happen, but it does sound really annoying. Also, thanks for sharing the pictures!

THE RESULTS FOR THE OBJECT CATEGORY ARE IN!
Judged by Owlgirl.
This turned out to be a rather small category. It received three entries from Mei-xue and one from Booksy Owly. That's only four entries, and by only two different people. And in this contest, there are three places. Despite the contest's small size, it did not cease to bring high-quality work. Good job, Booksy and Mei.
FWI: I had to rotate some of the pictures because they were originally posted upside down or sideways. I used an image posting website, so the resolution may not be as good as the original picture was.
Now without furhter ado, I present to you the winners of the Object Category!
FIRST PLACE: Mei-xue's Photo #3!
I had no doubt that this was a first-place photograph. There's a lot of artistic technique that goes into this photo, producing a very nice picture. First of all, how you put the focus on the heart. You have a nice aperture, meaning how the background is somewhat blurry. Also, your hand that holds the heart is shadowed, so it doesn't take away from the main piece. But my favorite thing about this picture is the lighting within the heart. The way the sunlight refracts through the hearts brings out these really cool colors and light, making it like a prism. If you think about it, it also makes the photo rather poetic.
SECOND PLACE: Booksy Owly's Photo!
I love the spiraling down of this photo. The spiral itself is visually appealing, and also the way it brings the colors down with it is very nice...the colors don't fade into eahc other perfectly; the go from yellow to scarlet to dark red to yellow again to orange to pinkish red to dark red. That's a good thing, in this photo. It gives it mroe of a natural look. The individual obejcts in this photo aren't as clear; rather they work together as one almost abstract object. That's what I lvoe about this photo.
THIRD PLACE: Mei-xue's Photo #1
This is a lovely picture. The color of the blossoms against the vibrant green of the leaves, the little bits of sunlight shining through. It did make me smile, Mei. :)
Congratioulations to the winners of the Object category!
