ART POSTING

(Subject not going through....Third time's the charm...??)

Art stuff thread starting...NOW!  If you draw stuff, you can post it here! I draw in a sort of anime/manga/toon style, but if you don't, don't let that stop you from posting your stuff!  I would love to see other people's art so post away!  They can be OCs, fan art, or just random stuff.  You can use any media, including digital, like I do!  Just to let you chatterboxers know, I started this thread so we can share our tricks of the trade with each other.  Feel free to: ask questions about how to draw certain things, post techniques, share art, and mostly HAVE FUN!  If you draw your OCs, feel free to share information about them such as their names and that sort of thing.  Same goes for fan art since not all of us know where these characters are from.  You don't have to be polished with your art.  I myself am just a beginner at anime/manga/toon.  I'm not good at hands so if any of my hands looks particularly cruddy, you know why.  I also struggle sometimes with feet so same goes for that.  If any of you know how to draw a particularly good hand or foot, feel free to share your trick for it.

Going to post a picture of my OC, Tuxedo, if this post goes through okay.

Thats awesome, Viola!

I saw a piece of art of a picture of someone’s phone, and their characters drawn on to the picture, interacting with the phone. I thought it would be cool to make something like that of Sebastian and Jericho, so here it is! (I did not draw the background, I only drew the two characters.).  >:)

Sum more art! I screwed up a lot of times while drawing this, but (thankfully) they’re not too noticeable. Floriography is pretty interesting.

Thanks! (It's from a coloring book. Shh, don't tell anyone.)

Well, I just deleted the art I think to which you refer, since you should only submit your own original work.

Here's something I drew. It looks a bit Japanese, a lot of my art does a teensy bit, although I never purposely try to draw anime-style. I just kind of draw what I like. He's holding a letter and there's a map on the table in front of him.

In the summers I like to do a semi-big project (they usually aren't that successful but we're not gonna talk about that XD), and this year I want to make a short graphic novel of sorts and post it on the CB.

So while I'm planning out the plot, does anyone have tips for writing webcomics and/or character design? Thanks!

Hmm, let's see. There's show, don't tell; webcomics are comics, which typically use a combination of artwork and words to tell a story, so make good use of both. It's always nice to see scenes that wouldn't make sense without the images. Wordless panels, wordless pages... it's also fun to play with how perspectives, panel shapes and colors influence the mood of a scene.

Be sure to have your most major plot points laid out from the beginning, to keep things reasonably cohesive. If you like, you can make up the details of dialogue and stuff on the fly for flexibility and/or use bullet points for what to include in each page/section for structure.

Thumbnail plans for page layouts are good to have... vary your perspectives, clearly establish backgrounds and movements... single-panel/splash pages are always fun. Give the speech bubbles some distance from your characters, too, and break up the dialogue as much as you want. Having words in their own bubbles gives them more emphasis.

As for character design, I'm no expert, but I've heard that it's good to have your characters' silhouettes be clearly distingushable, find a balance between simplicity and detail that will work for you, and to fully explore each design. It's also nice to have character turnarounds for reference as you go. Because you will have to draw your characters over and over and over again.

Good luck, and I hope this helps!
