TECH WEEK!!!

I hope at least one other person knows what this means...

This week is tech week for Willy Wonka! (Some of you may remember me posting about auditioning and getting Veruca in previous threads)

Anyways, for those of you who don't know, tech week is the week before a play where rehearsals are super long and it's known as a stressfull time. 

To be honest, I actually like tech week. I love acting, and I love my friends, so put the two together and you get tech week!

Of course, this year is worse... the rehearsals are from like 6:00 to 10:00. I'm going to be so tired. 

Plus, we have to sit in pre-chosen groups. Everyone hates this!!! The years before this, I would float from person to person and hang out with them, but now I have to sit in one place. Plus, a ton of my friends aren't even in the group!!! IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE!!!

Anyways... I kind of wanted to hear some tech week or show week stories. It would be cool to share stories and read other people's stories. 

Here's one of mine (Sorry it's kind of lame):

So last year, a couple of my friends and I went to a small pizza shop to eat between shows. We were all wearing stage makeup, leggings, and show tee shirts with our hair either curled with hairspray or up in a messy ponytail. We all walked in and got a booth. (We were the only people there.) We ordered our pizza, and to pass the time we did things like tell stories about how the show should have gone (making it revolved around our characters) and we also were trying to explode soda. But, we are theatre kids coming from a show with a lot of sugar in our diet, and, naturally, we started singing songs from our show. At the top of our lungs. The pizza people had to come over and tell us to be quiet tons of times! We didn't listen. They were glaring at us the rest of the time. Whenever we pass it, we always point out the pizza shop that we were almost kicked out of.

Ooooo! I looooooove tech week! It means the show is almost here! Believe it or not, I have tech week too! For the Shakespeare play Hamlet! For those who don't know Hamlet is the one where everyone dies at the end. But I don't die. Which is kind of sad because fake dying on stage is kind of fun. I didn't see your post on getting Veruca but CONGRATS! I don't have any stories but hopefully I will have some soon! Oh and if you are wondering in Hamlet I am a courtier named Osric. I am also a player and a Dane. Good luck and have fun!

Tech week! I love it, yet it can be annoying at times. I was in Willy Wonka once too, but I was an Oompa Loompa. :) Back to tech week. My school recently was doing a mashup from a bunch of Shakespeare scenes. Not one play, but a billion different scenes. Just to get, you know, the "essence of the of the story," (To quote my director.)

Oooh, I have to be an Oompa Loompa too, on the week that I'm not Veruca. I have such an embarrasing costume! 

The mashup sounds really awesome. That would be fun to perform! Yeah, I like tech week too, but it's really stressfull.

It was so fun to be an Oompa Loompa, but our costumes were pretty bad as well. We had to wear shower caps! (Dont' ask.) The mashup was really fun. It meant we had a lot of downtime, though, especially on tech week, so most of the time I was in the greenroom. One time my friend Charlotte brought hacky sacks to the performance and tried to teach me how to juggle. Bad idea...

Break a leg Joss!!! 

I too know what tech week and what it implies :)  I have gone through many and survived! Thankfully. So hopefully you will too! 

But it sounds like you have a lot of good friends, which really make the week better and sadder when it comes to the end. 

I have a ton of stories I could tell about tech week and performances and going to restuarants in full, crazy makeup and tank tops. But for now I will leave it at this.
