A New Game
Chatterbox: Pudding's Place
A New Game
A New Game
Does anybody remember my game "Spectrum"? If not, it was basically Clue mixed with Mafia mixed with lots of pretty colors. I guess it was fun, because I hosted 2 rounds before it kinda died off. The point is, now that I am back on the CB, I miss it, and I think it is time for another game.
Behold! Marshall City Mystery!
Here's the story. There has been a murder in Marshall City. Basically the same as Spectrum so far. But unlike Spectrum, the role you choose makes a big difference. Each role has a different motive, as well as different items. I'll display the roles below:
- Investigator
The investigator wants to arrest the murderer. Simple. He/She has handcuffs that will automatically arrest someone. He/She also has a magnifier, which can tell if 1 person is the murdererer once.
- Assassin
The assassin wants to kill anybody but the murderer, and do it with the target alone. The assassin has 1 knife at their disposal, which can kill any person of their choice once.
- Agent
The agent wants to arrest the assassin. However, he/she has to question everybody before this is possible. The agent is equipped with a company tazer, which works like the handcuffs.
- Bruiser
The bruiser wants to beat up the officer or the investigator. He/She is given brass knuckles, which can beat up infinitely.
- Officer
The officer wants to arrest the bruiser- after the bruiser has shown a threat, of course. They are equipped with a company tazer.
- Body Guard
The body guard wants to passively protect the innocent from harm. Fortunately, they have a lockdown remote, which can seal off a building from botth sides until the body guard exits the building.
You are probably very confused. I understand. The main point of the game is to fufill your motive. Once play starts, the game works like a RP. Each player posts once per round. During each post, players can move around and socialize as much as they want, but they can only use one item once per post. A new round starts once everyone has posted once. Don't post twice per round, or skip anyone! Remember, you can manipulate your character and what they say, but not the others!
Players can move around in three buildings: The Bar, Hotel, and Airport. The officer and bruiser start play in the bar The body guard and investigator start in the hotel, and the assassin and agent start in the airport.
Lastly, you will be arrested if you arrest incorrectly, or are correctly arrested yourself. Correctly arresting is arresting someone who is a threat, or is the murderer. Once arrested, your story ends.
Boiled down, we play in rounds, use items and buildings, and use this arrest system.
So, just apply for a role. Once we have all 6, we will start. Please, be somewhat experienced in RPs, and be comitted (It is a fast paced game) if you are going to join. If you have any questions, ask away. I hope this works! P.S. Admins, if anything is too violent, please just edit it! I worked hard on this concept!

Oh this looks cool. Hmm. Which one . . .
The assassin.

Sweet. 4 more until this starts.

Hey! Pete! Welcome back!
I'll be the Agent, but I do have two questions: First, how does questioning work? (Haha.) Does the person being questioned always have to tell the truth? What can the person questioning them ask them about?
And second, do the characters we play know the things we know? For example, would the rest of our characters know that the Assassin has to be alone to kill someone, even if the characters don't know who the Assassin is?
Sounds like a neat concept. Can't wait to see how it works out. I must say that I haven't been in very many RPs, but I think my writing skills are fairly decent, and I know all the basic rules (don't take control of other people's characters, etc.). The only thing I'm never sure of is which tense to write in, haha.

Thanks for the welcome, HAB!
Questioning is an open concept. You can lie, tell the truth, or even make up your own backstory! Questioning can be about anything. Since the only people who would probably do serious interrogation are the officer and investigator, you don't have to be that serious about it. For you, questioning is about getting to know people and their strategies (to see if they might interfere with your motive, or you could help fufill their's). It is also just something I did to make your job a little harder.
Secondly, your example is backwards. In-game, we know the titles of everyone (Example: Everyone knows who the assassin is, etc.). What we don't know is their motives. Sure, you could easily figure out that the assassin has to kill someone, but you never know how. I hope you guys honor my request that you don't cheat and look back at the motives.
You sound like a good agent to me. FYI: always write in 1st person.

Okay, thanks. I think I understand, then.

Okay, so this was kinda confusing to me, so I looked at the previous Spectrum games.
First, do we get two lives like the other ones? Also, what if we suspect a wrong combo together (like wrong item and person). Does that mean we loose two lives or one?
Also, do we have to suspect someone every time we post?
And, if I'm the assassin, is it clear that I'm supposed to murder everyone? Does that automatically make me the murderer? O.o (that probably doesn't make sense but I'm just asking).
Also, we can't control the other players at all? Like we can't make them say or do absolutely anything?

This game is only loosely based on Spectrum.
There are no items. I mean, besides the items you have (which would be only the knife, for you). But they work way differently. And regarding lives-I ditched that. If you're arrested, then you're out. For the rest of the current game.
There are no requirements for posting. But, you can only use an item once per post.
I choose the murderer. Nobody knows who it is until post-game. The assassin wants to kill one person alone who isn't the murderer.
You can interrogate and influence people, but I just don't want people doing something against their will.
You might want to reread the directions and motives. If you haven't played Spectrum, don't let it influence how you play this game. Read my reply to HAB's comment if it helps.
