IT'S SHOW WEEK!
IT'S SHOW WEEK! I AM TERRIFIED!!
My Nutcracker is this weekend! I'm in all five shows this year as a Russian, and it's pretty fun! We actually are doing some lifts and stuff with the boys, and one girl ends up on a boy's shoulder at the end! I have never done any partnering with anyone before, so it's awesome! Anyway.... I get really hyper and nervous during the shows, and kinda bossy cause I'm so nervous. Any advice?

I had my school concert this morning and I have to go do it again at 6:30 tonight. I don't really like the singing that much, but I play flute in the band and I LOVE it!!! I'm in a flute trio with two of my friends and we played it really well this morning. I was shaking the whole time, but it was fun and I can't wait to do it this evening. We played Good King Wenceslas for the trio. We did two Nutcracker songs and a Hannukah song as a whole band.

Sounds awesome! I loved being in the Nutcracker when I was still doing ballet. I love that magical feeling you get just before going on stage, and the fact that you get to create a world for people to step in to, if only for a moment, is an amazing experience.
My advise for nerves is to remember why your doing this, you love it right? It's for fun, for enjoyment, and you get to do things you've never done before! Show off your new skills! Another thing to do is to just breath, remember to breath and think about the little things, try not to get worked up about the audiance, they will love the show, that is certain. And I bet they'll especially love your part since there's lifts!
Anyhow, have fun! Break a leg, wish I could watch!
I'm playing my violin for The Nutcracker this coming weekend. We have two rehearsals this weeks. I love the music, but I can't watch the dancing while I'm playing, and violins hardly ever get a break for more than a few measures. I did buy a video of a past performance, and I love seeing all the costumed dancers backstage before and after the performance!

I'm SOOOO excited! A new thing that we have this year is a Meet and Greet where the audience members can see all the performers in their costumes and makeup *Shudder*(Ugh makeup) in person.

I just wanted to mention three awesome dancers who helped and inspired me to be who I am today.
First, Jennifer Curiel, who was Cinderella. Thanks for heping us get the Mouse House, and teaching us how to do an ecchapae on pointe.
Second, Isabelle Alaway, who along with Jennifer, inspired me to be the best I could be.
And third, my awesome dance teacher Elizabeth Adams, for helping me to adjust to pointe shoes, and being the best teacher I could have for the last 9 years.
Thanks to all of IDT's supporters and dancers who make these performances happen!

What songs do you play Dragonrider?

Arg. Just got back from rehersal. We ran through the entrada and finalie a few times, but then we went a bit crazy. Someon had the wonderful idea to run through the variations, starting with the biggest. Waltz of the Flowers wasn't that bad. They have two casts, so they are expected to take a while. The Gingers were ok too, but the Arabians? They only knew like HALF their dance. THE SHOW IS IN TWO DAYS!!! They spent 30 MINUTES LEARNING THE REST OF THEIR DANCE!!! AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGG!!!! Anyway, I finally got to dance like 20 minutes after the 'end of rehearsal'. DARN ARABIANS!!! Sorry, I just really need to scream about this right now. RRRRRRAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!!!

@Balletandbow- At the concert I was talking about before I played Nutcracker Overture and Trepak, Nutcracker March, Good King Wenceslas, and Hannukah is Here. Last Winter I played All Through the Night, Little Drummer Boy, and The Hannukah Song. We also have a Spring concert every year, and we play at something called Spring for The Arts, which is a big display of students artwork from either kindergarten or pre-k through high school.

Thanks Poetic Panda! The first 4 shows went pretty well, with only a few slips and one fall.
