Music teachers. This

Music teachers. This thread is dedicated to all music teachers! What do you like about your music teacher? I go to band at the school, but I am homeschooled. The music teacher there will help with solos, etc.

(first post!)

Our choir teacher is really funny, unintentionally. But lots of people hate her because she's very dedicated and she nitpicks about performance songs a lot.

She's also one of my best friend's mom, and she loved Sweeney Todd, and she makes really good garlic bread. Which = awesome in my book. :)

My chorus teacher is a lot like that, too, TNO! But I personally really love her, even if some of my fellow choir members don't. She's fun, dedicated, makes us sound great, respects us......I could go on for a while. She's great!

Yay, fellow homeschoolers! My flute teacher is great, kind of picky, but then what are teachers for?

I used to have a really great violin teacher who knew how to make me work hard and have fun at the same time. Now, I have a so-so band teacher, an okay violin teacher, a good music appreciation teacher, and an awesome choir teacher!

Band? Do you play two instruments? Or are violins in bands.........?

Yay music teachers!!! One of my music teachers is obbsesed with chimps and ice cream. When his printer isn't working, he tells it if it starts working properly he'll give it ice cream.........btw I'm also in a chamber music group, which is cool.

Our band is all wind, but they made an exception for me playing the violin because I've played it for 10 years. Yay!

That's cool!

My sister (Martia) plays Suzuki Violin. Do you?

Just wondering, since it appears that you started at three years old.

I play Suzuki Piano and non-Suzuki clarinet!

Ok, this is probably going to sound really dumb, but what exactly is Suzuki?  I've always wondered!!

Suzuki is method of learning to play a musical instrument, primarily violin, cello, or piano.

The Suzuki method is also used to teach viola. I play the viola and flute and have two awesome teachers! And they're both left-handed. I know that's really random, but I've always thought it was kind of interesting.

I always wondered about left=handed people learning musical instruments, if they played them backwards from right-handed people. But then I decided that with most musical instruments, you have to learn to do something with each hand and when you're just beginning, it all feels awkward anyway, so they probably play the same way right-handed people do. Most of them. I think there may be a few famous exceptions.

Cricket, I think they make special instruments for left handed people.  When my dad tried to play my violin, he had a lot of trouble holding it.  (he's left handed)
