I play the flute too! What piece are you playing? This summer I played Mozart's Flute Concerto in G Major, and right now I'm playing Fantasie for Flute and Piano by Gabriel Faure. They are both really fun pieces!
On the concert: Aside from the usual tips, which are helpful too, remember that everybody wants you to do well! Unless you are playing in a solo competition, people just want to hear you play your piece and won't be critiquing every note you play (At least I don't think they would!). For me, it really does help if I just try to have fun. Pretend you're in your room practicing like you usually do and don't pay any attention to the audience! Good luck! :)

I don't play the flute, but I sing, and I have to sing in front of small groups about two, or three times a year, and I get really nervous. So, for my last one, I asked everybuggy on chatterbox for advise, and Old Cricket told me to eat a banana before my performance. It helps to get rid of shaking. And for the first time ever, my recital went smoothly, and I didn't shake, and I wasn't nervous. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It really helps to know your piece forwards and backwards, inside and out, in your sleep. That way, when you're actually performing, you can concentrate on getting a good sound and not tensing up because you're nervous.
In general, I like to meditate, to practice clearing my mind and concentrating on one thing. It helps me focus and lets me do my best during a concert or test or whatever, among other things.
OOC, what piece are you playing?
