Maleficent...redux? Becau
Maleficent...redux? Because I never see films until they come out on DVD and yet I still need to write a review thread on the CB.
First of all, I LOVED Angelina Jolie's acting as the title character. Both wicked and vulnerable, she was the perfect anti-hero, and I cried like CRAZY when she was the one to save Aurora. I wish she didn't have horns by birth, though--when I saw the trailer, I thought the horns were just in her "crown," Loki-style, not making her look so much like a human-moose. Elle Fanning as Aurora I didn't despise as much as I thought I might have, and the Prince was thankfully marginalized. Diaval was still one of my favorite characters--he was a good avuncular foil to Maleficent.
However, I didn't at all care for Stefan. I guess you're not supposed to, since he ends up the villain, but you could totally see his treachery coming. Nor did I like how twee and "Oz the great and Powerful" they made the Moors look. Furthermore, why were the three fairies originally so small when Maleficent, a fairy herself, was human-sized? My last complaint was how Aurora became Queen over the Moors at the end when at the beginning it was said that the Moors didn't need a ruler because it was so harmonious. And the Prince had to show up in the coronation, standing there so you wouldn't forget him, but still not at all important.
That's the end of my rant. What were your impressions of the movie?

Well, there are different types of fairies, so the fairies and Maleficent could logically be different sizes.
I LOVE Maleficent!

I totally agree with everything you said.

Going to counter a few things you said...
One, Malificent is supossed to be the most powerful fairy, so obviously she has to be bigger than the other ones.
And two, they needed Araura to become he ruler so the two kingdoms would finally be united- she had to be the ruler of the human kingdom too, remember.
I liked those three fairies- did you realize the red one is the same actress as the one who played Umbridge in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix?
I thought it had an altogether great plot and some pretty good charries.
