The Princess Bride!
Has anyone else watched or read this? I could probably quote most of the movie, it's so filled with awesome lines!

I love The Princess Bride! I've got to make two sections for both the book and film:
The Book: It was really cool how it was written like a gentle spoof of a fairy tale. The internal story about the author adapting an older tale got on my nerves a little by the end--though it was certainly convincing. I like how realistic and human Buttercup was--all the characters, really; I loved Inigo Montoya--except Westley, though I suppose a Disney prince can't have all that much interesting to do. My favorite scene (the one omitted from the film) was when Fezzik and Inigo go down through the Zoo of Death to find Westley and battle all the terrible creatures there. It was such a metaphorical, metaphysical kind of journey.
The Film: For one thing, it was super faithful to the book, which I always love, and even made Westley a little more interesting--though I felt Buttercup wasn't as deep. My favorite character is still Inigo Montoya; he got most of the good lines, though there are so many. I wish more films were made like this these days: good acting, good action, humor and depth, and that doesn't need to resort to excessive special effects or glib dialogue to be enjoyable.

OH MY GOSH! I LOVE THAT MOVIE! And I didn't even know there was a book. I am so reading it. The movie was fantastic though, and I love the fire swamp scene.

I really don't like that movie, except that the swordfight between Inigo and Wesley. If anyone has seen the movie Ella Enchanted (it stinks) the guy who played Weslwy plays king Edgar. He is melodrmatic, and just plain cheesy.

Oh my gosh, that was the same actor? He was the worst part of Ella Enchanted--mostly because he didn't exist in in the book at all. I feel like if he wasn't there the film might have had a chance of being okay.

"Marriage is what brings us together today..."
The Princess Bride is pretty much the best. I watched the movie and read the book both awhile ago (a little over a year) and I seem to forget how great it is. Cloud Cult actually has a song of sorts using bits from it. I've only heard it once but I like it. It's one of their older works, though.
