The Princess Bride!
So I finally saw this movie after having read the book a while ago, and I thought it was one of the best plots I've encountered in a long time. I can't exactly say that either the book or the movie makes my top lists, but I absolutely adore the story with all its humor and heroism and camraderie. The movie, thank heaven, was a really faithful adaption of the book, though a good deal of character exposition was taken out--a little bit of Buttercup's natural jealousy (making her character more likeable but a bit less human) and the part when Fezzik and Inigo had to battle the dark and deadly creatures to get down to Westley (thus showing their respective strengths and weaknesses).
I was thinking, one of the two best scenes in all modern film is Inigo's duel with Rugen--"Hello! I am Inigo Montoya! You killed my father. Prepare to die." (The other great scene is the Warg battle in the Two Towers, but that is neither here nor there.)

I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!! I read the movie a little after I read the book and it always seems like you like the movie better if you watch it before you read the book it's based on. Anyway, my favorite part is the first battle scene between Inigo and the man in black, I always want to see what happens after the movie ends though. Oh, I also wish there was less love in it, I know, I know that's the whole point of the movie but seriously, why did she throw herself down the hill after him instead of just walking down?

I haven't seen the movie in awhile, but I like it. I vaguely remember the poison scene.

@ Forrest:
Regarding what happens after the movie ends, William Goldman actually wrote the first chapter of a "sequel" in which Inigo, Fezzik, Buttercup and Westley all escape to this island guarded by a kind of whirlpool, and Buttercup and Westley have a daughter, and they all kind of just live there out of the way of Humperdink. Only the first chapter was written, though, and I wonder if Goldman will ever continue it. It sounded pretty interesting, actually.
Considering the steepness of the hill, it would have been kind of hard for Buttercup to run down it, but she didn't have to throw herself down--couldn't she just slip and skid a bit?

OMIGOSH!!!!!! I LOVE The Princess Bride!!!! I have been raised watching it since my parents and aunts and uncles all adore it, and I read the book when I was in fourth? (I can't exactly remember) grade. So what are your favorite quotes from the movie? I like the 'Mawage' part.
"Mawage. Mawage is what bwings us togedder today. That bwessed awangement. That dweam wiffin a dweam. An wuv, twoo wuv, wiw fowow you fohevah. So twesa your wuv."

I love that part, though the actor could have overdone the baby accent even more, like how it was written in the book. My favorites--
Vizzini: "Inconceivable!"
Inigo: "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
Count Rugan: "Interesting..."
Westley: "I mean, I wouldn't want to build a summer house here, but the trees are actually quite lovely."
The whole scene outside of Miracle Max's door is awesome.

I hate this movie except for one scene. I love the swordfight between Inigo and Westley.
