Les Mis
I recently saw the movie. I know, I should have read the book first or seen the musical but 1) I could not resist and 2) so far Les Mis has not (and probably will never) come over here. I thought the movie was fantastic. I loved the music (I have been singing the songs non-stop since I saw it) and the story was very touching. The one thing that I disliked was Russel Crowe. Don't get me wrong, he is one of my favorite actors but his singing was really not that great ("Look Down" for example).
I have bought the book so I will be reading it soon. So, I was curious, have any of you seen Les Mis live? What did you think of the movie? What about your favorite songs?
I've seen the show live and it was fantastic, so moving. The movie was OK, but different. I thought the movie seemed to go too quickly from event to event. I do love much of the music, too. Of all, my favorite was the book. In reading, I took time to savor every word and let it all sink in. I realize it's hard to condense that into a 2-hour movie.

Well, the movie was very close to the musical and the book is a very different thing altogether... so seeing just the movie I think is fine! I have seen a recording of a live performance but I'm not likely to see it live haha. I personally LOVED Russel Crowe as Javert, and my favorite song is "Stars."

@Page O.- Well, I can't think of anyone else who could have played Javert. Russel Crowe was right for the part but I didn't really like his singing in the opening. However I thought he sang "Stars" very well.
My favorite song is "Can You hear the People Sing". :)

Is that the one with Comptine D'un Autre Ete? Or is that a different one?
I've never seen that movie or read that book or listened to that musical.

I really want to see this before it gets off Broadway! I'm deciding between going to Les Mis, Jersey Boys or Matilda this year (if my parents agree haha). I want to see Annie, but that's off Broadway, so maybe a more local Annie or something.
Cappie says baba. Baba yaga? Cappie, she's a bit... creepy.
