Shipping is when you have two characters that you want to end up together. OTP stands for 'only true pairing', so that's what you call your favorite ship.

In further etymological study, I think 'shipping' is short for 'relationship...ping?' I've also heard OTP as 'one true pairing'.

Nah, actually that's pretty much it. Shipping is when you like wto characters (or people, I totally ship people in real life) that you want together in a romantic sense. There's also Brotps which are basically your favorite friendships. So long as I'm here, here are some I didn't list: Dwangela, Jam, Holly/Michael and Ryan/Kelly (Office), Calendiles (BtVS), K-Rose/Preston, (Flower Power series), Rochester/Jane (Jane Eyre), Marlowe/Carlton (Psych), Sherlolly (Sherlock), and Eleven/River (Doctor Who) and Doctor/TARDIS (DW) although not necessarily romantically, just together...forever...

I have so many OTPs, it's a problem. And recently started having so many platonic life partner OTPs that I started using the tilde (~) to denote them because "Harry~Hermione" is so much simpler than "platonic!Harry/Hermione" amiright.
(I don't like the term "brotp," it just rubs me the wrong way because it's gendered and in fandom they're generally treated as secondary to romantic relationships, rather than on par with them as with a PLP.)

The second one is the (non-canon) COMPANY BLONDE FAMILY wherein Vivienne Kensington is Joanne's daughter from second husband and they don't get along well but they try really hard and NEITHER OF THEM KNOWS HOW TO DO FEELINGS and Larry is Vivienne's stepfather and mediates between them and loves them both more than anything.
