Musicals!
What are some of your favorite musicals? I have a few, and I definitely recommend them. These musicals are very popular, so I won't be surprised if you have heard of them or watched them before. I LOVE The Sound of Music (the original one, not the one with Carrie Underwood) and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Both are based on actual stories! I performed in both as a school production. I also really like the Wizard of Oz! I'm not sure if Disney movies are musicals, but I love Frozen. I hope they will make a Broadway about it!

So many musicals get stuck in my head on a daily basis, but I especially like My Fair Lady, The King and I and Fiddler on the Roof.
Another old show I love is Showboat. Our local high school did it several years ago. It has many beautiful songs by Jerome Kern: Old Man River, Make Believe, and Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man are a few of them. It's a love story, very sad. I can't remember how it ends.

@ S.E.: You played Gretl? In the Carrie Underwood Sound of Music? Wow!

Uh, no. I just played Gretl in a regular SOM production.
Sorry if I dissapointed you.

Thanks, Admin, for giving me the synopsis of Fiddler on the Roof! My dad loves the music from it, because it's so operatic (he's an opera fiend). Do you know if a good movie version was ever made?
I have seen the movie. I didn't like it as muchl as the stage show. Those great lines come across to me better delivered in person, live.

Wicked's probably my favorite musical... But I do like The Sound of Music!

I absolutly loooooooooove Les Misrebles, West Side Story, Hairspray, Wicked, and Chicago. They are my utter most favorite musicals. I have also been in about nine musicals and plays, such as Peter Pan, Snow White, Oliver, Sound of Music, Loot, Midsummers Night Dream, Wind in the Willows, Rumplestilskin, and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory ( except I was a kid tech for that play. I think its so much fun to bond with your fellow cast members, and go out there, perform, and have a great time, I feel right at home on the stage...

I actually saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Saturday! I loved it! What is your favorite song? I like the Elvis part and "Those Caanan Days."

If it is a post-Rogers and Hammerstein musical and it isn't Kinky Boots I probably love it, let's be honest, and I love a lot of R&H or pre-R&H musicals too.
(Kinky Boots was really awful, don't touch me)
*IF YOU DON'T KNOW THESE MUSICALS I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GET OVER TO YOUTUBE OR ITUNES OR WHEREVER AND FIX YOURSELF. FOR SERIOUS. for Wonderland, Sunday in the Park, Mary Poppins, and Legally Blonde, I'd recommend the original casts; for Matilda you NEED to listen to both the London and original Broadway cast recordings, they're equally phenomenal; listen to the 1995 concert recording of Anyone Can Whistle, as it's more complete; listen to the 2006 revival cast of Company because Raúl Esparza and Barbara Walsh.
That is all.
