Ok, so I

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Ok, so I

Ok, so I thought up this cool idea. I was thinking of Doctor Who, and *pop* this idea came to my mind. So the idea is add your favorite quotes from any movie or tv show, such as Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Star Wars, Indiana Jones... etc. and what they mean to you. You can do as many as you want! I'll start off with my quote:

"I'm the Doctor. I'm a Time Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I'm 903 years old, and I'm the man who's going to save your lives and all six billion people on the planet below. You got a problem with that?" -The Doctor

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause and effect but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective point of viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff" -The Doctor

I, for one, LOVE Doctor Who!! When I saw David Tennant say those on the screen, I was holding back laughs. I mean, he's hilarious as The Doctor! So, peeps, type your favorite quotes! Is this a boring idea...? Tell me what you think and if it should be changed a bit.

No, this is great! I love these. We've done a tone of them.

"There's always the bend in the road." ~ Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gables

"God's in Heaven, and all's right with the world." ~ Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gables

“Behold!" Percy shouted. "The gods' chosen beverage. Tremble before the horror of Diet Coke!”~ Percy Jackson, Mark of Athena

“He turned to Frank who was trying to pull his fingers out of the Chinese handcuffs…
“Okay,” Frank relented. “Sure.” He frowned at his fingers, trying to pull them out of the trap. “Uh, how do you—”
Leo chuckled. “Man, you’ve never seen those before? There’s a simple trick to getting out.”
Frank tugged again with no luck. Even Hazel was trying not to laugh.
Frank
grimaced with concentration. Suddenly, he disappeared. On the deck
where he’d been standing, a green iguana crouched next to an empty set
of Chinese handcuffs.
“Well done, Frank Zhang,” Leo said dryly, doing
his impression of Chiron the centaur. “That is exactly how people beat
Chinese handcuffs. They turn into iguanas.”~ Mark of Athena

“He had no idea where the stereotype of dumb giggly blondes came from.
Ever since he'd met Annabeth at the Grand Canyon last winter, when she'd
marched toward him with that Give me Percy Jackson or I’ll kill you
expression, Leo had thought of blondes as much too smart and much too
dangerous.” ~ Mark of Athena (one of my all time faves.)

“Zoe ordered the Hunters to start loading. She picked up her camping pack, and Apollo said, "Here, sweetheart. Let me get that."
Zoe recoiled. Her eyes flashed murderously.
"Brother," Artemis chided. "You do not help my Hunters. You do not look at, talk to, or flirt with my Hunters. And you do not call them sweetheart." ~ Titan's Curse (oh my gosh, I'm a total Zoe Nightshade. That would so be me, though, I might just go ahead and slap any guy who did that.)

*spoiler quote*

""Stars," she said. "I can see the stars again, m'lady."

A tear trickled down Artemis' cheek. "Yes, my brave one. They are beautiful tonight."

"Stars," Zoe repeated. Her eyes fixed on the night sky. She did not move again." (I'm sorry, but I just BAWLED at this part.)

So, these are just a few of a TON!

These are just a few of a great many.

"I always think everything could be a trap... which is why I'm still alive." --Prince Humperdinck, from THE PRINCESS BRIDE. I say this all the time.

"It's a trap!" --Admiral Ackbar, from STAR WARS. Well, it's a trap.

"Did he just bring them back? Did he just save the world from aliens and then bring all of the aliens back?" --Rory, in Dr. Who. I haven't seen much Dr. Who, but's it's amazing and this was an amazing quote.

"...what he really meant was I love you." Narrator, from the Princess Bride. Okay, so my friend and I have this joke, because in Star Wars, Darth Vader says "As you wish sometimes," and so we'll say "As you wish" and then "but what he really meant was I love you." The first time I almost fell down in the hallways of laughter.

Okay, I love a lot of quotes, so I'll just pick some random ones. Most are either hilarious or sad.

“With great power... comes great need to take a nap. Wake me up later."--Nico (The Last Olympian, Percy Jackson and the Olympians)

“The world was collapsing, and the only thing that really mattered to me was that she was alive.”--Percy (The Last Olympian. . . You don't need me to say the rest) I was crying my eyes out the whole last portion of that book. It was so sweet.

"...What would Patton have done?" Warren
chuckled. "He would have shaved the centaurs, dipped them in honey,
covered them with feathers, and hung them up like a bunch of pinatas,"
Kendra, Seth, and Tanu laughed. " I'm just saying.

"Very few men who are live their lives like Patton Burgess die in bed," Grandma said gravely, extinguishing the snickers." -- Fablehaven: Secrets of The Dragon Santuary

"Grampa came into the kitchen, glancing over his shoulder in the direction Seth had departed. "What's eating him?"
"Kendra accused him of voluntarily reading," Grandma said gravely.
Grandpa raised his eyebrows. "Should I telephone the authorities?"
Grandma
shook her head. "I'll not have my grandson subjected to the humiliation
of his reading habit becoming public. We have to cope with this
disgrace discreetly."
"I have an idea Grandpa." Kendra announced.
"Board up the windows so the paparazzi won't catch him in the act?" Grandpa guessed." --Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague. Haha
“But I killed you,” Alyss said.
“Did you?” Red turned to The Cat. “Why wasn’t I informed?”-- The Looking Glass Wars
"They do't want us kind of dead. They want us extremly dead." --Vincent (Fablehaven: Keys the the Demon Prison)
"Hats have power. Hats can change you into someone else."-- The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making
“The storm ate up September’s cry of despair, delighted at its mischief, as all storms are.”-- The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in A Ship of Her Own Making. I balled my eyes out in that part. Until I couldn't see the page and had to read it all over again.
It’s all going to be okay. She would like to hear that now, even if it was a lie. Because some lies are beautiful. Stories do not tell you that."-- Breadcrumbs

"Come, the wind said, and I will blow you away.

Come, the snow said, and I will bury you.

Come, the cold said, and I will embrace you.

Come. Come.

And so she did.”-- Breadcrumbs. Also made me cry.

“Shaking herself, Petunia looked around. Several of her sisters had been
talking to her, but she hadn't heard them. "And that answers our
questions about why he gave himself up," Poppy was saying, a smile
turning up one corner of her mouth as she looked at Petunia. "Now if
everyone could please avoid saying his name, so that Petunia
doesn't drift off again...?”
-- Princess of the Silver Woods
“I already have a plan," Celie said, raising her hand as she would with her tutor.
"Do you?" Rolf's eyes gleamed. "What is it?"
"I don't think you'll like it, Lilah," Celie apologized straightaway. "It involves manure...a great deal of manure."
Rolf started to laugh again.”
-- Tuesdays at the Castle
“It looks as though your shop is doing well," Luka said gazing around.
"Could you help me find a gift for a lady friend of mine?"
My
heart plunged to my green satin slippers, and I had to stare down at
Azarte for a minute, petting him hard. Naturally Luka had a "lady
friend." She was probably nobly born: the daughter of a count or a duke.
I imagined her having thick dark hair and clear skin, and was bitterly
jealous. "Of course," I stammered after a time. "What would she like? A
gown? A sash?" If she came in for a fitting, I decided to "accidentally"
poke her with every pin.”
-- Dragon Slippers
“The
Human was extremely tall. On its head it had yellowish hair coiled like
a rope. It had no hair on its face. And yet his grandmother had been
very categorical about that. Humans have hair on their faces. Its called
a beard. Its one of the many things that distinguish them from elves.
The little elf concentrated, trying to remember, then it came to him.

"You must be a female man," he concluded triumphantly.

"The word is woman, fool," said the human.

"Oh, sorry, sorry, woman-fool, I be more careful, I call right name, woman-fool"....” -- The Last Dragon

Ahem, this is getting too long. There are some others, but I can't remember them, or find them on Goodreads, so I'll have to look in the books tomorrow. SO I'll probably post those too, later.

"He will come to death, an image of the splendor of the kings of men in glory undimmed before the fading of the world. But you, my daughter, will linger on in darkness and doubt, like nightfall in winter that comes without a star."~ Elrond, in the Two Towers movie. How sad does that sound?

"HAVE YOU GONE MAD?! ARE YOU A WITCH OR NOT?!" ~Ron Weasley, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

"And if by my life or death I can save you, I will." ~Aragorn, The Fellowship of the Ring.

"An ant does not have a quarrel with a boot."

"That is my offer, you mewling quim." ~Both Loki, The Avengers.

"Let us sit upon the ground, and tell sad stories of the death of kings." ~King Richard, Richard II

I have a whole lot more, but I'm not sure about the exact wording of them...will add them later.

Here are a few more I thought of last night:

From Shakespeare--

"Many do call me fool." ~Sir Andrew, Twelfth Night

"Parting is such sweet sorrow." ~Juliet, Romeo and Juliet. Love the line even though I'm not that keen on the play.

"I shall hereafter, my thrice-gracious lord, be more myself." ~Prince Hal, Henry IV

"There is a tide in the affairs of men, which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune." ~Julius Caesar, Julius Caesar.

From miscellaneous--

"Home is the sailor, home from sea, and the hunter home from the hill." ~Robert Louis Stevenson

"...that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." ~Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg address.

"I shall teach you the beauty and artistry of sorrow and incompleteness." ~Mark Greaves, Emily's Quest.

"There's only one God, ma'am. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that." ~Captain America, The Avengers.

"Well, let me know if 'real power' wants a magazine or something." ~Nick Fury, The Avengers.

"I could have done it, Father! For you! For all of us..." ~Loki, Thor.

It should be fairly clear by now how much I love both Avengers and Loki. If it has not been made clear, here take note.

Ok peeps!! Let's start this again! Sorry I haven't been on lately... so anyway, I came up with an idea: We all post quotes, BUT the Admins pick a good quote of their chose each month for the magazine, and add it in the Letterbox. I saw Everinne's awesome Gandalf quote so I thought this was a good idea. What do you think Admins?

We've all got both light and dark. What matters is the part we act on ~Sirius Black

It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live. ~Albus Dumbledore

We are as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided ~Albus Dumbledore

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. ~Albus Dumbledore

That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for ~Sam

One does not simply walk into Mordor. ~Boromir

I'll come up with more later! And I'll be on more, sorry about that!

Admin: Moss, I've sent your post to the Admin who does the Letterbox!

Thanks for the great idea, Moss! We have selected more quotes for upcoming Letterbox Chirps columns, and we'll think about making it a regular feature. There are so many meaningful quotes that give a character eternal life and can inspire us all. Long live Albus Dumbledore!

@ Everinne:

I saw your quote in the Letterbox for this November/December issue.

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." Gandalf.

^ Pretty awesome quote! I read the Hobbit, and I still need to read the Fellowship. I read the first chapter, I really need to catch up on the Lord of the Rings.

Eh.. I like Doctor Who. What can I say?:

"He never stops. He never stays. He never asks to be thanked. But I've seen him...I love him...And I know what he can do." -Martha Jones

"Everyone has nigtmares. Even big, scary monsters from under the bed have nightmares." -David Tennant.

"There no point being grown-up if you can't be childish sometimes." Tom Baker

"All right! I confess, I confess. I confess to your being a bigger idot than I thought." Tom Baker.

“Trees go wandering forth in all directions with every wind, going
and coming like ourselves, traveling with us around the sun, two million
miles a day, and through space heaven knows how fast and far!” -John Muir

“Keep close to Nature’s heart…and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.” -John Muir

“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.” -John Muir

“A few minutes ago, every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring
storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm
like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent,
their songs never cease.” -John Muir

"You need to get a better dictionary. When you do, look up "genocide." You'll find a little picture of me there and the caption'll read: "Over my dead body." -David Tennant.

"Demons run when a good man goes to war. Night will fall and drown the
sun, when a good man goes to war. Friendship dies and true love lies,
night will fall and the dark will rise, when a good man goes to war.
Demons run, but count the cost, the battle’s won, but the child is lost." -River Song

Admin, what happened to the quotes I submitted here??? One of them was from Toy Story 2!!!

I post things as they come in during certain hours of the day and haven't deleted any quotes. The other Admins haven't mentioned anything about them. Try looking on a back page?

I can't believe I got in Cricket Magazine! Yay! *does happy dance*

Is the name Everinne mentioned at all anywhere, or is it just the quote? Sadly, I don't have a Cricket suscription, or a decent library that carries it. :(

 This is what it says:

I figured I’d start a Quotes thread to post your favorite
quotes from books, movies, poetry, songs, etc. Here’s one: “All we have to
decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”—Gandalf in The

@Everinne: Yes! I saw your name there and everything! Congratulations.

Also, Everinne. Since this is a quotes thread, here's one for you:

"Here is Aragorn, son of Arathorn, cheiftan of the Dundain of Arnor, Captain of the Host of the West, bearer of the Star of the North, wielder of the Sword Reforged, victorious in battle, whose hands bring healing, the Elfstone, Elessar of the line of Valandil, Isildur's son, Elendil's son of Numenor."

My sister showed it to me. She said she didn't even read it. You know Emma hates Aragorn. But he's my favorite character, so.. I loved it.
