World War Z

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

World War Z

World War Z begins with an average day. Our hero, Gerry Lane (played by the marvelous Mr. Pitt), is just having an ordinary morning with his wife and two daughters. He used to work for United Nations, but that's not important right now. The movie moves along to the first zombies.

SPOILER ALERT As his family goes through the streets of Philadelphia, the scene quickly shifts from an average traffic jam to a huge disaster. The zombies appear, and a PWD truck goes through the streets way faster than it should, crashing into a lot of cars and presumably killing a lot of offscreen people. As one guy tries to get away in a car, he is attacked by a zombie who crashes its head through the winshield and bites him. He falls to the ground, twitching like crazy, and becomes another zombie. Meanwhile, Gerry Lane and his family flee the zombie attack in Philly and speed off to New Jersey, where they are rescued from the top of an apartment building by the U.N. and taken off to a Navy ship to find refuge from the end of the world.

Due to his field work for the U.N., Gerry is asked to track down the source of the zombie plague and help stop it. Of course he says yes, and the movie keeps going from there, but... no more spoilers.

The zombies do not move slow and groaning. They run really fast and are actually very formidable adverseries. They are excellently designed.

This movie is excellent and suspensful. Director Marc Foster knows what matters, and shows it by not highlighting any useless character backstory or anything. He keeps it going at a lively, interesting pace, and never breaks up his theme or timing. The movie is very gripping and really fun to watch. So, you really should see it if you're not afraid of onscreen zombies.

I was always wondering what those big piles of people were... I had no idea the Z stood for zombies in the movie title until just recently. I do not want to watch this movie though, since I freak out about world wars and dying and such.

It was SO AWESOME!!! At the end scene where... uh... won't tell you exactly what. Gerry Lane was walking down the hall carrying a box and everyone in the theater cheered. If you watch the movie you'll see why.

My dad watched it yesterday with his brother. He normally doesn't get scared at things, but he was freaked out!
