Call me hopelessly slow, but I saw The Avengers last week and Thor a few days ago, and now I finally realize the appeal of this whole Superhero thing. I want to see Iron Man, but I have this hang-up with Gwyneth Paltrow (sorry to anyone who likes her) and despite the hilarity of Robert Downey, Jr., he's almost too egotisitcal. Still, his cracks about the "glow-stick of destiny" and calling Hawk-Eye Legolas was a bit priceless. In all honesty, Thor (being the very charismatic Chris Hemsworth with a spendid accent) is my favorite character, and since he's from Asgard--he can have crazy powers because he's a god. And the whole mythological thing is pretty cool as well.

Also--Loki. In my own opinion, he is the most kick-butt villain, not only because of his British accent, but also because the part is so well acted. Also, (especially in Thor), he's not so evil for evil's sake but because of his birthright. Plus, Tom Hiddleston was in War Horse: he's Loki and the sympathetic Captain Nicholls. Such different roles, but both acted so well.

The only problem about this superhero thing are the actresses the casting people pick for the sidekicks. See above Re: GP and I absolutely cannot stand Natalie Portman. I couldn't stand her in the Star Wars prequels, and I couldn't stand her in Thor. End of story. Scarlett Johannson isn't bad, though, if only because she's tough and can hold her own with the guys.

The second Thor is coming in the fall, but what about all this about the end of Tony Stark? At least, the end of Iron Man? He's got to survive for the second Avengers, that's all I know.

As I said in my Iron Man 3 review at http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/puddingsplace/node/115354:

And then, Tony does something that makes me think, "Uh-oh. Maybe he's out of the next movies after all." But then after the credits roll, the screen flashes the words "Tony Stark will return". Whew! Glad he's not out of the theater yet.

Oh, and there's a short scene after the credits. So do stay for the credits!

So, yeah, he'll be back, maybe for another movie of his own.

I can't wait to see Thor 2 and the second Captain America. And they're putting out Guardians of the Galaxy (look it up on Google!) plus Columbia has the next Spider Man to offer.

I wanted to see Man of Steel, but now I don't. It got mixed reviews and I have bad experiences regarding movies that last 2 hours and 30 minutes or longer. I could not stand Lord of the Rings simply because of the 3-hour running time! There's no way I'll see the Hobbit trilogy that stupidly expands one small book into nine hours total from three movies! (Nor any of the rest of my family.)

I went to see Man of Steel yesterday. It was pretty cliched (which was to be expected) but I guess it was okay. The beginning reminded me of the Lion King. Shortly after Superman's birth, his father held him up dramatically and then there was a shot of a grassland with animals that looked strangely like elephants and gazelles. I almost expected to hear The Circle of Life playing.

Uh... strange.

Who's into seeing the next Spider-man?

There is nothing wrong with Lord of the Rings being long; it's supposed to be long. Have you seen the length of the book?! In my own opinion, it could have been longer, but then, I think most books/movies should be longer. Except The Hobbit, I admit, three movies is a little long, especially since Thorin is so uninspiring.

I do not care about Man of Steel; just by looking at it, I get that ugh feeling like "This has so been done before."

The Spam Box says agrv. It's aggravated that Lord of the Rings was put down, even subtley. As am I.
