Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
We just watched Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, a cult classic time-travel movie from the '80s. The credits roll as I type this. It was EXCELLENT!
The plot involves Bill and Ted, two slackers forming a rock band called the Wyld Stallyns, who don't even know who to play music and are flunking history, dude! (The credits just stopped rolling.) Because their music will bring stability to the future and change the world, a guy from the future named Rufus is sent back to 1989 to stop the Wyld Stallyns from disbanding so the future will be EXCELLENT! So he travels back and gives them a time-traveling phone booth with which to travel through and learn about history so they can pass their final and guarantee the safety of the future. So they do, and grab a bunch of historical personalities to bring back to the present for presentation to their history teacher.
The movie was silly, crazy, cheesy (in an AWESOME way), and overall, EXCELLENT!
So now I can't wait to watch the sequel, Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.

My first thought in re time traveling phone booth was TARDIS.
It sounds a bit like Back to the Future.

It is, a bit. But it's also a LOT different from Back to the Future in many ways, and it's HILARIOUS with a capital H! Plus the acting is awesome.
