So I finally found out my parts in Aladdin. I'm the Lead Jewel (in the cave) and  the princess's Lady in Waiting.

The annoying thing is, the girl who is the princess (we'll call P1) can only be in one of 2 shows, so my teacher double cast her with another girl (we'll her P2). The day that P1 is the princess, P2 will be lady in waiting with me. But P2 is going to be in a play, and won't be around much, so the teacher says that I have to learn both the Lady in Waiting dance AND the princess dance so that I can teach them.

I was fine with not being the princess. I didn't think I would be. But then P2 starts complaining under her breath about having to do the part, how she hopes that the princess just walks and stands around a lot. She also complains to the teacher that she doesn't want to dance on pointe, so the teacher says that she doesn't HAVE to on the day she's the princess.

While she's complaining, I'm thinking, "I'm already learning all the dances, and she doesn't even want the part. Why doesn't she just have me douple cast the princess?" And before you think that I'm being bratty, the princess isn't even that big of a part. I wasn't bummed at all until P2 started complaining.

Also, it's going to look so weird for the Lady in Waiting to be on pointe, and the princess to in flat shoes! I can't change my shoes, because my quick change doesn't have enough time. Ughh! I'm so frustrated!

On a more positive note, I love the Jewel dance!

If I were you, Ivy, I'd talk first to P2 and tell her you'd be happy to talk to the teacher about switching parts with her. If that's OK with her, then talk to the teacher. I wouldn't just go to the teacher to say that P2 is complaining without talking to P2 first. Maybe this way, everyone will be happier.

Thanks for the advice Admin. I'm not going to say anything, because P2 is also my friend and I don't want any hard feelings between us. I was able to convince her to do it on pointe! I just told her how weird it would look for the Lady in Waiting to beon pointe and the princess on flat, and she agreed.

Good! Thanks for letting us know.

I'm glad you worked that out and convinced your friend to do her dance on pointe. I think it will look better that way. Congrats on your parts!

I totally want to become a ballerina, like I would give my prized possesions, and other things I would be a bit unwilling to give up, just to become at least a Corps in a prestigious company. I really want to be apart of The Bolshoi Ballet, but it is very hard to get in, and you have to be super good, like Natalie Osiova for instance.... and so I think I would settle somewhere in the United States, like the NYC Ballet, SF Ballet, or the Joffrey Ballet. Those are also my dream companies, especially the SF Ballet. This summer or winter, I will be getting my pointe shoes, which is so exciting, I just can't wait. I just auditioned for The Stapleton Ballet School, and I got in, so it will be my first time performing with them soon. I have a recital in June, than a Nutcracker in December, and then a Spring Show in March, which will probabaly be Coppelia. It s hard to believe, but I have never been in a Nutcracker before. The kids in my level sections, where Chinese, Party Children, Reeds, and Magical Maidens last year, which means we will all probabaly be them again.

Cheerio!!!!

Right now I'm taking ballet classes too, and I really love it. The tightness of your bun, but the flow of your moves is so nice. Anyway just saying I love ballet too!

Ahhhh, that is so exciting!!!! I remember how excited I was! Any advice I have is probably what the shoe fitter and your teacher will tell you, so I'll leave the tips to them. If you have any questions, though, ask away and I'll try and answer!

My show is today! I feel pretty good about all my dances, although we only finished tap last Tuesday and haven't run it since.

As usual, the whole show is quick changes for me because I'm in every other dance!  Most of the costumes are easy to get into, once I change tights, which is a pain. My favorite costume is for Jewels ( in Aladdin). It's a silver sequined bodice and and silver skirt that comes down in points and has sequins at the bottom. I think we're also wearing little tiaras.

Mum so excited!

How did it go?

It went really well! There were a lot of bloopers in the first show, and the music suddenly stopped in the second, but the last show went pretty much perfectly! The quick changes were unbeliveable! I basically had 2-5  minutes to change costumes and tights!

Pudding is teaching me to dance for the stage, but my ballet shoes broke! The elastic came out of one of them. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX IT?

I'd love to go onto pointe one day :)
