So hi! I'm
So hi! I'm auditioning for a musical for my school and I really really REALLY want a part. Does anyone have any ideas for a good song to sing? I'm good at singing long notes and am in the middle voice range.

Hmm. Perhaps Moonlight Shadow? Listen to the Aselin Debison version if you've never heard it. Or Had to Grow Up. Again, Aselin Debison. I'm afraid that's all I can offer. I don't sing much myself, but I listen to a lot of music. Listen to those and tell me what you think.

Okay, found another one or two. I'm Soaring and I'm Gonna Fly both from Kiki's Flying Delivery Service. Again, I don't know if this would work, but there ya go!

If you look past the saccharine-ness of it, an excerpt from "The Candy Man" can usually give auditioners a good idea of how you sing. It's all over, range-wise, and it's short, too. If gumdrops aren't your thing, take a song from Peter Pan (the one with Mary Martin) and it'll be good. Um... let's see. "It Takes Two" and "Into the Woods" from Into the Woods.
These are all songs that I've used for auditions before, so they should be pretty fail-safe.

You were pretty good at "On My Own".
Or you can help me get ready for my audition and sing "Sixteen Going on Seventeen".

Ooh! I love that song! I completely forgot it! It's one of the few songs I can sing semi-decently!
