Little Mermaid, Jr!
Yay!!! I auditioned at a local theater, and I got IN!!! (as I'm sure Melody would be interested to know:) I've never really done an audition-only play before, so it was a bit of a shock to hear how entergetic everyone was at singing "Under the Sea" at the callbacks.
I got the cast list today. My part is... *drumroll*
FLOTSAM!
I auditioned for Ariel (of course,) and from my own (unbiased!!!) point of view, I was one of the best...but apparently the director didn't agree. And once I got a good cry out yesterday (that's right, yesterday. I knew the director wouldn't pick me, and I got a bit ahead of myself) I had nothing left in me today but excitement. I can't wait until Saturday. (My first rehearsal with a part!)
By complete coincidence, the girl playing Jetsam has the same last name as me. My mom says it must've been irresistable to pair us together.

@TNO, *imagine the umlaut, please* thanks for the thoughts; I really am not sure whether "Sweet Child" goes too high, or too low, or if it's right in range, mainly since I've never really practiced it. I still don't know if it's being added in; my main concerns about being able to sing it were based in the fact that my director said (quote) "I don't know...I'll have to see if you guys can sing it." So.
I wasn't trying to say anything too technical; sorry if I said something incorrect, but I was pretty much relaying my interpretation of what my dad said, and my own idea of what is too high/low for my range. I don't know if you are a theatre major, in which case you definately know more about it than I do, but my dad is a professional vocalist, and he said that the way I was trying to produce my higher notes was unnatural, and, even controlled, could ruin my vocal chords. The main problem is that I am a young girl, with vocal chords that are not fully developed. You, TNO, are considered by most standards as an adult, and (presuming here!) have a mature voice. My dad says I simply cannot sing the way you (I believe) are describing. But I'm just saying what I think here, and could be completely wrong.
Wow. What an indecisive post. OTC says hatm.

@Coral
Our performances are at the beginning of November.
(September 24, 2012 - 6:38 am)
Wow! That must be really fast-paced! :)

@Coral
Yes rehearsals are every day of the week except weekends up to opening night.
(September 30, 2012 - 1:22 pm)
*-* That's so awesome. I wish we practiced more than once a week.
(October 1, 2012 - 1:15 pm)
So, apparently my director is KIND OF REALLY FAMOUS. Just look up Illich Guardiola.
(November 18, 2012 - 12:51 pm)
That's awesome! That's actually the first name that came up when I typed Illich into my search engine. Is he the anime actor?
(November 19, 2012 - 9:35 pm)
YES. O_O I had no idea he was so well known in the anime community (if that's the right word.) Maybe he's not famous, but you know, I was "Freaking out." ;)
(November 20, 2012 - 12:46 pm)
Whoa. That's cool. He's been in a lot of anime. And One Piece is pretty famous, too.
(November 21, 2012 - 8:16 pm)
I know...it's weird I never realized that! He's done a lot of stuff in Texas theaters (Yeah I'm a Texan.) :P I guess he keeps pretty busy. He's kind of strict, and I always thought he was just mean. I guess he really knows what he's talking about! And the funny thing is, he's been getting on about being late since before the auditions (I'm not kidding.) and he hasn't been at the rehearsals for weeks!
OTC says...ffft.
(November 22, 2012 - 7:33 pm)
Oh, and...sorry for saying something about him being Russian, because turns out he's only a quarter Russian.
