A bunch of people are saying it's a badger, so I just jumped on the bandwagon.

Calm down everyone! First things first; we need to know who we're talking about.

Second we need to know where he or she is.

I have a creeping suspicion that you are correct that it is a badger, and I also think that he has something to do with the stone tree. Badgers live in hollows dug out between rocks and in the roots of trees; in this case I think the guardian lives beneath the stone tree; better get there before BIG!
