Nobyl RP! T
Nobyl RP!
The Nobyls are at the very top of Kyngdom's social ladder. They are the ultimate elite - wealthy, powerful, leading luxurious lives. But not all are content... in every family, it seems, there's at least one adventurous spirit. And these adventurous young Nobyls are deciding to join the Resistance, leave behind everything they've ever known, and fight for freedom from Catastrophe.
Since we haven't worked out exactly what's supposed to be going on in Kyngdom during the ten-year timeskip, I won't set the scene too strictly at this point - but this RP is about a few Nobyl families, both rich and poor, who decide, throughout the course of the RP, to join the Resistance. Some are at the extreme top of Kyngdom's elite; they can either leave the elite once they decide to join, or join secretly. Others have lost everything and know how cruel and unjust Catastrophe is, and thus have wanted to join the Resistance for a long time. The different families don't have to have much contact with each other at first, but their stories will gradually intertwine as they join the Resistance and get to know each other and form new friendships, alliances, and rivalries.

-Kalisse-
A Nobyl walked up to Kalisse, and she felt quite nervous. Part of her would rather just casually walk away somehow, but it was too late.
"Greetings," the Nobyl said easily. "I don't believe I've had the pleasure of seeing you around before...?"
"Oh...ah, it's because I prefer to stay at my estate, and I live a bit far from everything." She paused, hoping she didn't say something wrong. "I'm Kalisse, Kalisse pur Kays. I'm a distant cousin of Estrelle's."
(May 1, 2024 - 10:32 pm)
Name: Simeon Gowen, son of Virgil
Pronouns: He/Him
Age: 19
Appearance: Tall and fit, but not muscular. Wears oversized, Ill-Fitting suits. Cracked, peeling, dry skin and long blond hair, as well as goggles. Large hands and poor posture. Constantly looks ill-suited to his surroundings.
Personality: Bad. His upbringing was horrific, and he's socially warped as a result. He seems incapable of feeling anything, beyond brutish anger and cold resentment. His interpersonal relations are few, due to his dismissiveness and agression. He's a loser.
Strengths/weaknesses: He's physically strong, not outstandingly so, but he isn't flimsy. He has a lot of money. He's gone through a lot. He's also actively resentful toward everything though, that isn't great.
Home: The Deep House
Which Nobyl family is he/she from? You can invent your own branch of the Nobyls: The Gowens
Background: Born to Zirrah, Wife of Virgil, Simeon was loved and cared for by his parents until that magical time when a young man in the Gowen Bloodline is taught The Gowen Way by Haudrian, Gowen Patriarch. He is, as a result, physically strong, and mentally scarred. His low tolerance for people has not earned him many friends, among his fellow Nobyls or otherwise. He has a grudging respect for fellow rebels however, due to their ability to use their HATE as a weapon for a greater cause.

Name: Virgil Gowen, Son of Ersak
Pronouns: He/they
Age: 40
Appearance: Short, dangerously thin. Very long hair and feminine feature. Horn-rimmed wire glasses. His entire body is covered with winding scars, head to toe. He wears elegant, bright clothing, blue usually. He has thin lips, and he always looks like he's hiding a private joke.
Personality: Tired, but always scheming. Scheming, scheming, scheming. Out of necessity more than anything else. Living under the boot of Haudrian will do that. He loves his children, but he does what he has to do.
Strengths/weaknesses: Very intelligent, and supringly well put-together for a Gowen. On the other hand, he is kind of a pushover.
Home: The Deep House
Which Nobyl family is he/she from? You can invent your own branch of the Nobyls: gowens
Background: Born to Ersak, Son of Haudrian. Put through The Gowen Way. He and his brother were both intended to carry on the Gowen Bloodline, But his brother challenged his rights. They fought, and Virgil won, but only barely. And he was terribly scarred in the process. He was later placed in an arranged marriage, one that did not end happily.
(He's open to shipping with guys)
Name: Rachel Gowen, Daughter of Virgil
Pronouns: She/her
Age: 23
Appearance: Shorter, tanned and muscular. Prone to wearing armor, or at the very least platemail afer a few assassination attempts. Smiling almost perpetually. Wears golden colored things, carries daggers. Hair in a short bob, and heterochromia.
Personality: Very friendly and social. Actively support the rebellion as opposed to supporting it politically alone. Frequently associates with non-nobyls, making her unusual in her family. Prone to wild tempers.
Strengths/weaknesses: She is unusually compassionate for a Gowen. However, she also suffers from a terrible anger problem. If she feels her family's honor is threatened, terrible violence generally follows. Constant trauma has given her an edge.
Home: The Deep House
Which Nobyl family is he/she from? You can invent your own branch of the Nobyls: Gowens
Background: Put through the Gowen Way like any other, prior to her transition. (only men are put through the Gowen way, which is probably sexist, but few people would willingly sign up for trauma, so there's that) After her transition, she willingly signed up for military duty, learned a little bit about knighthood, and became enamored with the rebellion. After convincing Haudrian that he could gain more power in a more open system, and that the existence of a "supreme child-emperor" placed a limit on what he could achieve, the Gowens began aiding the rebellion. She dragged her father, and one of her brothers, to this party in order to migle with other Nobyl families and hopefully form bonds.

|Rulkan|
"Oh...ah, it's because I prefer to stay at my estate, and I live a bit far from everything," the Nobyl said, sounding uncertain. "I'm Kalisse, Kalisse pur Kays. I'm a distant cousin of Estrelle's."
"I'm very pleased to meet you," Rulkan said. "I hope you enjoy yourself here - if there's anyone you particularly wish to meet you, I can introduce you." He smiled at her - she really didn't seem like the typical, shallow, boring Nobyl. "Have you ever been to this city before?"

"No, I have not," Kalisse said. "Maybe once before, but only for a brief glimpse. Never formally. And it is very kind of you to offer to introduce me to others. I am, well, rather unfamiliar with the Nobyls in these parts. Ah, and I don't believe I quite caught your name?"

"Oh, pardon me," Rulkan said. "I'm Rulkan pur Abadore. I'd be honored to be of any assistance. As for the city, well, I think it's the most incredible in Kyngdom, but of course I grew up here, so I might be biased. If you don't mind telling me, which part of Kyngdom do you come from?"

"I come from northern Kyngdom," Kalisse replied. "Near the forest of Morrows. What do you do in your free time?"

"I come from northern Kyngdom," Kalisse said. "Near the forest of Morrows. What do you do in your free time?"
The question caught Rulkan slightly off guard, but he regained his metaphorical balance - as he'd done he couldn't count how many times before - and smiled. "I spend a lot of it going to parties," he said. "If time spent at parties counts as free time. I also enjoy riding, away from the city, and there are some books that are more than worth reading... And one of my favorite pastimes is talking with distant cousins of the pur Kays. What about you?"

Rulkan looked startled for a second, but quickly regained composure, so fast that Kalisse thought that she must have imagined it. He smiled and said, "I spend a lot of it going to parties. And one of my favorite pastimes is talking with distant cousins of the pur Kays. What about you?"
"I quite enjoy reading as well," Kalisse replied. "And I travel from time to time, and talk with my friends..." She smiled slightly. "What do you think of this party?"

"I quite enjoy reading as well," Kalisse said. "And I travel from time to time, and talk with my friends..." She smiled a bit, her eyes shining elusively. "What do you think of this party?"
"It's perfect, as all the pur Kays' parties are," Rulkan replied - it was the typical response, so typical that he didn't even have to think about it. But, he reflected, glancing at the lovely girl next to him, perhaps it would be safe to let down his bantering, compliment-giving guard with her. Let it down a little. "I've been to so many parties that they don't seem to be very different from one another... never mind. I do enjoy the party season. And the food is lovely - I hope you're enjoying it?"

This was actually the first party Kalisse had been to of the pur Kays', so she honestly did not know anything about the others. But they were likely as immaculate, and probably more extravagant, than this party. "I am certainly enjoying it," Kalisse agreed. "I heard that there will be talented traveling musicians stopping by for a performance as well. Do you enjoy music?"

*Lucian*
"I'm Lucian," Lucian said when Scipio asked. "Lucian pur Courageux."
"I think we're going to be friends. Shall we go cause mischief?"
"Mischief?" This time, both of Lucian's eyebrows went up. "What did you have in mind?"
~Satori~
"Well, I read a few interesting reinterpretations of old folk tales," Satori replied. "When looking at a story you've heard your whole life through a new lense, it can make everything seem new. I guess that's why they appeal to me." She chuckled a little.

"I am certainly enjoying it," Kalisse said. "I heard that there will be talented traveling musicians stopping by for a performance as well. Do you enjoy music?"
"I live for it," Rulkan assured her with a smile. "It should be enjoyable to hear these. Do you know their names?"
(May 19, 2024 - 11:09 am)
~Scipio~
"Mischief?" The boy echoed and his perfectly manicured eyebrows shot up. "What did you have in mind?"
Scipio smirked. "Well, I've always thought these parties were rather boring. Interesting enough, I suppose but what can we learn about people that they're not sharing, huh?" He looked around. "What secrets and insecurities do these Nobyls have?"
He waited for the other boy's response with a primal look shining in his eyes and a smirk tugging at his lips?

`Estrelle`
"Well, I read a few interesting reinterpretations of old folk tales," Satori replied. "When looking at a story you've heard your whole life through a new lense, it can make everything seem new. I guess that's why they appeal to me." She chuckled.
Estrelle chuckled back merrily and said, "It truly can make everything seem new. Like for example, a recent novel I read of how Kyngdom formed through the eyes of scientists. Have you happened to read that one before?"
