Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ RP Board
A bitterly cold wind swept across the empty, snow-covered tundra, howling and whistling louder than wolves under a full moon. Tsuki slowly trudged across the frozen ground, her boots sinking into the deep snow. Vida was somehow asleep, and Nyx had been silent for the past hour or so, walking several feet behind Tsuki and Vida. Tsuki wanted to get to the south as fast as possible–it was winter, and the blizzards of northeastern Kyngdom were sure to get worse. And she had no desire to be traveling during a blizzard, especially on foot.
Besides, the southeast had been her home, once. Maybe she could find her past there.
“So, uh, where exactly are you going?” Tsuki bit her lip to keep herself from groaning. She really didn’t feel like answering Nyx’s questions.
There was a long silence, then Nyx spoke again. “Cool. So we’re going nowhere.”
“We’re going to the southeast.”
“Any specific… place in the southeast, or like–”
“I’m going home. You can go wherever you need to go.”
“Right.” Nyx fell silent again.
“...Where is your home, exactly?” Nyx asked.
Internal groan. “Small town in the southeast.”
“That’s specific.”
“You’ll see when we get there.” More silence, how Tsuki wanted it. Vida was still deep asleep. She was strangely quiet for a child–or maybe Dolor Felis infants didn’t cry as much? Tsuki wished she’d done more research on them before deciding to bring one on a journey across half of Kyngdom. Same with Reptithilans.
The wind began to let up as they walked, and small fragments of metal began to show up on the ground. This had been the crash site of one of Sailhaven’s many islands–it had since been repaired and wasn’t on the ground anymore, but some debris had been left behind. The bronze scraps began to grow in size, scorched yet covered in a thin layer of frost and ice. Pieces of metal houses and shops began to show up–Tsuki spotted a doorknob, a cash register, and a broken bed. The taller wreckage provided a good windblock, and Tsuki did her best to stay next to it.
In the distance, there was a thin column of smoke rising above some of the island fragments. Tsuki began to slow, wishing she didn’t have a baby in her hands so she could climb on some of the metal and get a better view.
“Who do you think that is?” Nyx asked.
“Probably just travelers, but we should still avoid them,” Tsuki responded, trying to stay quiet. The thin snow crunched loudly under her feet, though, so stealth was hardly an option.

Nyx sniffed at the smoke, following Tsuki as they wound around the chunks of twisted metal, trying to avoid whatever was causing the smoke, but somehow they always ended up walking towards it. Nyx finally huffed in exasperation and scaled a partifularly tall piece of debris. From the top of it she could see more of the mazelike debris-field, and even the source of the smoke: a smallish campfire surrounded by warmly dressed figures, some of them wearing heavy cloaks. Nyx couldn’t tell what they were or what their allegiance was, but she could see what looked like a path around their camp. She dropped to the ground and gestured to Tsuki to follow her.
They continued to walk between the pieces of whatever had once been here, and Nyx realized that the terrain looked very different from below than it had from above, and she fervently hoped they were still going in the right direction. Tsuki had pulled ahead of her as she became more uncertain, and Nyx nearly bumped into her when she abruptly stopped. She looked up. They had walked straight up to one of the cloaked figures.

Do you have any ideas for who or what the hooded figures are?

Tsuki cursed quietly under her breath when she turned to see where Nyx was. Couldn’t the Reptithilian have been just a little more careful? They had a child to look after!
