Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ RP Board

Hello everyone,

I wanted to place this reminder on the RP thread because it needs its own thread. I noticed that some discussion threads have been allowed on the RP thread without having been deleted, and as this is more of a discussion thread than anything else, I hope the Admins will allow it to remain.

While I may say that this is a discussion thread, it is also *cue name of thread* a reminder. A reminder that, while certain characters have become communal in absence of their owners, that making dramatic changes to those characters still isn't okay.

Specifically, "dramatic" changes (not other types of change to those characters). While these characters' owners have left, changing what was their vision for a character still is not good. Their original visions for their characters should remain, even if you do add smaller things and details to make the story better/more interesting.

Catastrophe, The Flower Carrier, Whist, and Sylvia are all characters that have gone through some of those changes, though few were dramatic. (And no, I am not going to dispute the Power Origin argument about the Flower Carrier here, as that was a fair argument--it's a different change to Mei's character that I am talking about.)

I am someone that had an "old character" such as that was changed, and without consulting me, though I was active at the time. Several of you probably know who I am. The character became incredible, and with a better history, but I still felt lost when I was writing about my own character.

Some of these changes are good-I would be a fool to call all changes bad. They make the story more interesting. I like a lot of these changes-other people like several of these changes. But some of them can change the original character themselves, and we can lose a lot of the beauty found in the creator's original writing.

So please be gentle with our characters. If a character's owner still remains, please consult them. Thank you.
