A Little History of Where Mina is Actually From as Told by Mina (Excuse the Long Title)
~
*Ahem*
The Dolor Felis have always been a species, but they weren’t a kingdom or a civilisation until later, when they were fully intelligent and had fully gained emotions. The first kingdom was Amafato (which means “unbroken past” in Dologian, the ancient language of the Dolor Felis), the legendary and beautiful kingdom. Most paintings in museums show its vast glory, with colours splashed at seemingly random places on the canvas, although this kingdom in reality did have many colours and emotions. The Dolor Felis have always had a monarchy. When Amafato was still in its prime days, two twin brothers were born into the royal family of Jeshio (the original founding family), and the elder brother of the two, Yoni (who was a few moments older than the younger, Daval), was the next to ascend to the throne once the king died. Daval grew wrought with jealousy over the years. This jealousy turned very quickly into hate for his brother, and this hate consumed him to become the worst version of himself. In pure spite, and being in the moment, he raised his knife on the eve of the king’s death, and striked at his brother. But Yoni was quick and smart. He knew of the hate growing in Daval’s heart and was prepared against any action taken against him. He survived with a scar to his cheek. Daval was arrested quickly, and the typical answer would be to execute the young prince for treason. But (the now) King Yoni’s heart was forgiving and to some people, too kind. He gave his traitor of a brother a portion of his kingdom, and over the years, Daval’s kingdom expanded and finally stopped when he had half of the original kingdom of Amafato. Daval, before he died, had named his new kingdom Raiiopol, meaning “from the heart.” But his elder brother Yoni had renamed his portion of Amafato to Batoii-Thi, or “because my heart is broken.”
Thus, the kingdom of the Dolor Felis was split into two, symbolising the two brothers and the two sides they took. Over the centuries, many smaller kingdoms and cities sprouted, but Raiiopol and Batoii-Thi were always the mother kingdoms.
Many years passed, and the two monarchies for the two kingdoms continued to be the main system of rule. That is, until the name Homhg Shol rose to fame. Homhg Shol was the military leader that grew up all his life in Batoii-Thi, and with his political power and influence, he began to persuade people that the two kingdoms should be reunited again. Of course, this caused restless tensions and uproars in Raiiopol, the independent side of the once standing Amafato. However, Homhg was persistent, and soon gained many friends and followers from both kingdoms. Then on the first night of the Lunar festival that both kingdoms celebrated, Homhg assassinated the entire royal family of Batoii-Thi and crowned himself king. This caused tensions to boil over, and in the weeks following the assassinations, many who supported the royal family of Batoii-Thi revolted against Homhg. However, Homhg was unstoppable. His army soon caught all of the “traitors” and had public executions for every single one of them. This is when Batoii-Thi plunged into its dark ages. And Raiiopol wasn’t safe and away from all this turmoil for long.
A year went by after Homhg seized Batoii-Thi, and all was quiet.
Too quiet.
The very first day of the new year of the Birch, Homhg marched his quiet and deadly army to the castle gates of Raiiopol. The battle was short and the takeover was even shorter. Homhg Shol became the ruler of Raiiopol and Batoii-Thi, and merged the two kingdoms together, naming it Tayshariy (meaning “bound together once more”).
Centuries passed this time. The monarchy of Shol lasted for these all these centuries, and the people under the Shol were oppressed. Though Homhg Shol may have seemed evil, he was a good ruler. But his offspring were not. And the generations that followed him only treated the rest of the Dolor Felis cruelly. Then one day a northern wind came through the kingdom of Tayshariy. With that northern wind, Dolor Felis that none have heard of or seen before also appeared. The ruler of this tribe, known as the Yallosi (meaning, “of the north wind”) challenged the current king of that time, Hafat Shol, to a battle with both of their armies. Although Hafat had many resources to his disposal, his lack of leadership was his ultimate downfall, resulting in the entire demise of the line of Shol. From then on, the leader of the Yallosi, known as Nyt, established the line of Dyshi, where his family ruled as monarchs, and Nyt renamed Tayshariy to Dyynen.

That is the general history of the Dolor Felis. So how did I become Queen? I’ve given several versions of the story, but never the full one. Never the actual one. Because I found that even I was wrong.
~
In the year of the Sage, in the 200th year of Dyshi, Marco Dyshi tried to hold his family together. The king was corrupt in his ways and refused to step down even after protests from the people. Marco’s older brother, Safron, was killed by his own father, the king, out of paranoia and anger. Marco, afraid he was next to die as he was next in line for the throne anyway, fled into a mountain village. Marco’s father was assassinated the following year, and the new rule of the Lontia family began. But in order to cut all ties from the Dyshi family he was brought up in, Marco erased his known lineage by changing his last name. To what? To Courageux.
~
In the year of the Willow, in the 179th year of Lontia, Janso Courageux was born. He was born into the peasant class to a father that never loved him and a mother who would do anything for him. His father was killed shortly after his birth in a dispute over gambling money; his mother died in sorrow years later when Janso was a young adult. Janso was on his own, as the tenant seized his family’s small land, and Janso could not pay him off. So Janso became a ranger of the north, doing small jobs for money here and there, and he often met with the remaining Yallosi, who had taken home in the Silven Forest, in the north most part of Dyynen. They helped to perfect his fighting, as they were the original elite group of warriors, and Janso soon became an ally to them and fought for them if there were any disputes.
One day he was training when he noticed someone else training beside him, someone he hadn’t seen before. This was Pastël, a Dolor Felis about his age, the daughter of the Lord of the house of Dysto. It was clear of the romance budding between the two of them. A few years after knowing her, they both agreed that they wanted to get married, and they were wed the following year. They settled in Windglenn, a small town still in the north, near Porte, a large city at the northern tip of Dyynen. Their first child was Nira; then Mina; then Leva.
Nira was the smart and logical one. She was wise in her ways and always thought about everything, including different philosophies and ways of life. She was the one she went to if you had a problem, and she inherited her helpfulness from her father.
Leva was the kind and gentle. She had a huge imagination and loved all people, Dolor Felis, and inhabitants of Kyngdom. She was quiet but graceful like her mother, and wandered the woods often, simply exploring and humming. She was an innocent flower.
Mina, the middle child, was different from the rest. She was not like her mother or her father. She was unpredictable, brave, awfully sarcastic/smart alecky at times, and couldn’t follow rules easily. In those days, she was the one pulling pranks on town authority, and she either made Leva laugh or made Nira scold her. But they loved her. And for a while they were the typical happy family.
But I suppose typically, it all changed in one day.
It was Mina’s birthday. She was entertaining her younger sister outside while Nira was hanging clothes. That’s when the shouts, screams, and sirens went off. Dolor Felis scattered into the trees from the clearing with weird people in suits following. Her parents ran out to help them, but they were found and shot, joining the rest of the bodies of the Dolor Felis that littered the ground.
Nira, the responsible older sister, ran to save them but she was shot down also. However, it wasn’t a killing blow. She was found in the rubble by other Dolor Felis and was saved.
Leva was picked up by one of the SOCS agents, being smaller and delicate, and was tossed to the ground as Mina heard a snap. But Leva too was found alive by other Dolor Felis, with a broken arm that cushioned her blow.
Mina wasn’t so lucky. SOCS saw her fight for her town and take down a few SOCS agents without a good weapon. They decided on a whim to take her in as a specimen to experiment on and study.
And that, my friends, is where we get into the part that is a gap between what has already been told and where she met Shadow, her best friend.
So let me fill this gap for you.

Can you post some pictures of Dolor Felises? Also, sorry, but the name of your race means Pain/Sorrow of the (Wild)Cats in Latin. :|
(April 6, 2018 - 3:34 pm)
Um, I suppose I can...and I’m not going by Latin translations, FYI. This is a completely different language.

I didn't mean to be rude if that is what you took it as. I'm sorry. I just like to study languages and especially dead languages like Latin.

No, I know, I'm just letting you know that because Kyngdom is an alternate universe and the Dolor Felis have their own language, I'm not using Latin.
