The truck is ready

The parking lot of a gas station found itself home to five soldier escorts and one driver of a military cargo truck one fateful morning.

They had already shot an innocent civilian for nearing the truck, and no more had come after that.

The animals of FAFA had retreated from their stealthy attack on the inner workings days ago, and it was nearly ready--it just needed to be gassed up.

While FAFA and Gog were extracting Regina, The Resistance had a mission of their own.

Failure could not be permitted.

Ok, cool! I'd like to stay. *rubs hands together* Should we start with the mission RPing now?

We sort of did, so you could add on to what was happening in the first few posts.

Sorry, I saw those posts, but they didn't register as rps in my brain. That happens a lot to me, so sorry to everyone who started already.

I glance at the sky. Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. Wait, where'd that quote come from? Never mind. Icy's as tense as a violin string. I touch her shoulder lightly and she starts. "Hey, it'll be okay. This isn't the first time we've done something like this," I mutter to her.

Thank you.

"Of course. Sure, RanP. Yeah." I mumble under my breath as I step away from the group.

"How, exactly, are you going to distract them?"

"I could do fireworks..."

"...What."

"I mean, set off a firework close to the ground, I did it at the underwater ball...but maybe that's not a good idea..."

"...Why don't you just leave it to the rest."

I kick a pebble with my foot. Great. Now I'm the useless one...but the Decoy Forest is so, so longingly sitting near Jökull (Was it Joküll?)...maybe I could get off the truck part way?

Then I hear someone--a teenage someone with fox ears--yell and run towards the thunderbird.

My face goes blank and white. "I know that--" "GET ON THE TRUCK! GO GO GO GO!" Someone yells.

The back of the truck is open invitingly, and the automatons load on. "Let's go, let's go, let's--"

"They're taking the truck!" Someone yells, and I hear a few...frightening...gunshots, loud cracks in the quiet, almost like thunderclaps in the silence, but definitely not thunderclaps.

"Who's going to--" I start to say as I wedge myself between two crates. "The wheel's on fire!" Rae yells.

I see Random Person dive outside the truck amidst even more gunshots that are likely peppering the truck, and turn into an otter mid-dive. Then--the truck starts, and we hurtle down the road. It's quite cozy in here, amidst all the crates and piles of timber and plastic tubs... "Does she know how to drive?" Anethia asks suddenly.

We lurch to the side suddenly.

"Probably not."

"... Hey, guys? One of the wheels is on fire."

"The wheels on fire!" Someone yells.

Great. What else could go wrong? Wait, don't answer that.

"I got it!" I yell. "Rae! Help me get outside without getting shot!"

She nods and tries to wiggle over to me in the tight space. Finally she is sitting next to me, and I quickly tell her my plan. She looks surprised for a bit, but finally recognition dawns on her face.

"Ohhhh. Like what we did when we were being chased by...I see." She laughs and opens the side door.

The ground rushes away below us and cold wind blasts all of us inside the truck. I poke my head out and see that our right front is in flames.

Carefully, I draw out my arm to its largest extension. It reaches to about four feet, just enough to hook onto the top of the truck.

I grab onto the railing along the top railing and scale the side of the truck. I reach the top and look down at the ground below me. If I slipped, I was dead.

I take out a mini fire extinguisher and grab it with my extended arm. Reaching down, I spray the wheel with the solution.

The fire finally stops and I breath a sigh of relief. It was on the axle and had only slightly damaged the actual tire. We probably would be able to make it to Jokull.

I yell down at Rae and she clears the doorway. I hook my arm to the railing again and swing down into the opening.

The truck is quiet after the howling wind outside.

"Well,"I say, rubbing my hands. "The tires fixed."

Sprocket's plan is both brilliant and insane, but it works. She gets up onto the roof, and sprays the wheel. The hard part, however, is getting back in again.

We've done stuff like this before, I tell myself. She's not going to die.

Finally, she swings into the open door. "Well, the tires are fixed."

I smile so big that I feel like my face might explode, and she winks back. I ask, "Was it the wheel, or the actual rubber?"

"Axle, luckily, but if I were you I wouldn't go jumping up and down above it. Not sure if it could handle that."

I peer into the depths of the covered truck, and say, "I don't think that's possible, anyways. There are too many boxes up there."

"Do you think I could go to sleep? I haven't had any rest for two days now." I yawn. "This mission took a lot of planning."

Icy says, "You could rest, but try as hard as you can not to fall asleep. We'll need you."

I stretch my legs back between two boxes, and prop my chin on my knuckles. It's oddly satisfying, seeing the road rumble away from under the open truck back.

"Er, you could've used the automatons in case you died," I comment. Everyone glares at me. "Did I say something wrong?" I whimper.

"Er, you could've used the automatons in case you died," Random Person says. We all give dirty looks. "Did I say something wrong?" she whimpers. I sigh. "Nights on a truck with RP," I mutter.

Rae is resting, although it looks like she's really close to falling asleep. I tap her on the shoulder lightly. "Wha..?" she asks. "Just keeping you awake." I respond. I feel like I'm about to fall asleep myself. Maybe someone should come over and pinch me.

"Okay," Sprocket says. "Wait, did I say that out loud?" I ask. "Because if I did, I didn't mean—OW! IS THIS HOW YOU ALWAYS PINCH PEOPLE?" Everyone laughs heartily.

Sprocket shrugs as I rub the place she pinched me. "Be careful what you wish for," she says. Geez. "Now introducing; LIFE LESSONS FROM SPROCKET!" RP says. Everyone laughs again. Great. Now people are never going to forget what happened.

"How close are we to Joküll?" I ask Icy. "I have to rescue Kimi." She shrugs. "I'm not sure," she responds. "But judging by all the graffiti from Catastrophe here, I'd say we're pretty close."

Everyone nods. From the few windows in this truck, you can see that every single thing—from walls to fences—is covered with graffiti from Catastrophe. Suddenly, I see a large mansion—Joküll. "We're here," I say. Rae suddenly stands up from her rest.

"Release the automatons," Sprocket says. "They'll deal with the cargo while we deal with the prisoners. We have to hurry, though." We all help Sprocket with the automatons. Then, I hand everyone a backpack with some necessities. We might need them. After that, we head out, following Icy.

"Inside each backpack is a device that knows where each of us is. That way in case someone gets lost, we can find them." I say. Everyone nods in approval. We sneak around carefully, narrowly escaping Catastrophe's guards. Wow, he has a really big camp. Eventually, we're inside Joküll.

"Where's the place that Kimi and the other prisoners are located?" Alex asks. I try to remember.

"The basement," Rae answers. I nod, suddenly remembering. "Why don't we split up?" I ask. "That way, we'll be less suspicious."

"Okay," Icy says. "We'll all come together at Kimi's cell in the basement." We all nod in agreement.

We split up and head to the basement seperately.

We split up from the truck, and all disappear in different directions. I quickly flap my enormous wings, and fly up, up, up until any casual passerby below would think I was just a bird. From this altitude, I can see all of Jokull. The others are just small specks below heading into all different entrances. I dare to fly down, just a bit.

"Halt!" a guard, with sword drawn, barks at me.

"Me?"I ask.

"Yes, you. State your business."

"I'm here to make a delivery."

"Of what?"

"Er... fruit!" To prove my point, I pull a piece of fruit-one of the rations I was equipped with- out of my bag.

Where did that come from?  I wonder.

He looks at me like I'm stupid. "You expect me to believe that?" he snarls, and lunges at me. I just barely miss his swinging sword. I pull a dagger from its sheath on my belt and throw it the other way.

The guard, momentarily distracted, turns toward the noise of it.

Not a good idea on his part.

I swiftly kick him in the back of the head with the hard sole of my boot. He falls to the ground, and I kick him once more. Hard. He's only unconcious, but that's the least of my worries. I run over to the dagger, return it to its sheath, then snatch the Song Of War bird pin from the unconcious guard's throat. Now, I have a disguise. Good.

I nimbly open the window, then hoist myself up and crawl through.

I'm successfully inside Jokull.

I hope this is okay... just tell me if I messed up again, and I'll happily fix it.

Aviance let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding as she stepped inside the base after Microchip, Connie on her heels. They both had Song of War Bird pins from some guards they'd thrown dormiamortem at, and long black cloaks.

She couldn't help but think of the 'diversion' she had created. Somehow, a wheel had caught on fire... well, at least they had fixed it, and they were safely inside Joküll. How long that safety would last, she could only hope.
