The Prophecy

The Prophecy

"One, Four, Five, Seven.

Armies gather, great and small

Some will rise and some will fall.

Hours of toil, sweat, regret...

Powers of all must fight those they create, and for which have burning hate

Each has to interleaf a Power's specific need.

Why do you hate in vain?

I tell of a rise on wings.

The chances are four, but four, four....

Cornibus Salvator Ales!

You will live to your name.

You will be the Savior."

The Oracle spoke.

Connie explained what the Oracle had meant, what her name meant, to the others.

"You'll need to fulfill this prophecy. It was never said what exactly the 'savior' was... but you saw a sword, correct?" Shadow said.

"In her eyes. Yes. And a battle..." Connie added.

"I almost have a feeling... the sword, it has to be something special, important. Something that could help turn the tide of the war. Could it be... the Sword of Ravenmore?"

"I thought Catastrophe had that." Vol looked alarmed.

"That's the hard part. At least we're already planning an attack on Jökul. You'll have to battle him for it in some way unless we can find a way... to steal it." A light came on in Shadow's eyes and she turned to Sprocket.

"We should begin plans right away."

Excuse me, but those two prophecies are separate. The first must be separate for a secret reason...

Who writes for you? I'm assuming you're also another character, probably in the Resistance... Are you Shadow?

CAPTCHA says uhmv. Uh, move! Sorry, CAPTCHA, I didn't know you needed that much space.

"Plans?" I rub my hands together. I loved plans, yet hated them at the same time. Improve was fun, yet trying to build an automaton without detailed planning is a wee bit difficult.

"May I make a suggestion?" Everyone turns to me and the room falls silent.

I take a deep breath. "A while back I made a human automaton. It was fully functioning and could pass as a regular person. That is, if we can make the outside look normal. As you know, machines don't have brains or a heart or anything like that. My humoids might be helpful in getting past any security that is based on living things. Also, if I can get an assembly line going we might have enough to make a small regiment of the army just robots. Again, just a suggestion."

I hold my breath, waiting for their responses.

Whoa.

"Cool. That sounds... really cool."  Vol grinned, breaking the silence.

"A regiment of the army, entirely made of humanoids? While Catastrophe's distracted, we can sneak in and get the sword, or something." He patted Shadow on the back and looked around.

"Guys, what do you think?" Vol looked around at their stunned faces.

Suddenly, Connie started to laugh.

"Sorry- it was just- I was imagining Catastrophe's face when we steal the sword-" She choked.

"So, that's... a yes, then?" Sprocket grinned.

Is anyone here?

I am sad and all alone.

I stand up. Everyone turns to look at me.

"Well, I guess I'll be going now. Those automatons won't build themselves." I motion to Trillian and we both step outside.

"Do you want to help me?" I ask her as I walk towards my room.

She nods. "Of course. I'd love to."

Once we reach my room I quickly explain to my automatons what we are doing. They will mostly be in charge of doing the manual labor, like assembling the outside parts and less intricate control systems. Then Trillian and I will but in the "brain" so to speak and finish them up.

We start to work. My assembly line in my room isn't the best in the world, but it was fine for what we wanted to do. The room was soon filled with the sounds of whirring machinary and various hydraulics. I loved the noise.

As we worked we laughed and talked. Once, I got squirted by my oil can as I was finishing up one of the automatons. Trillian and I laughed so hard we both got the hiccups. We were both covered in grease and oil, and we were both sweating profusely, but it was one of the best times we had ever had.

We stopped when the sun started to go down. I had to check the humanoids to make sure they were fully functioning, and Trillian went back to her room.

After the long and tricky process of getting their programming working, I took a shower and collapsed on my bed. I closed my eyes and began to dream of machines.
