Whatever happened to Thimble Auribus? Here is a collection of letters that were found in the Decoy Forest. We know they aren't decoys because they are no longer in the forest and they haven't disappeared. What do you make of them?

I was almost killed in the flood. Mice don't have very strong lungs, and I inhaled so much water I was unconscious for...a long time. When I woke up, no one I knew was around, and I was stranded inside a bottle floating over the ocean.

I think it must've been a week before I washed ashore. By then I was cold, wet, dehydrated, starving, and caked with salt. If I was a normal mouse, I would've died. That isn't to say I wasn't a hair's length from death.

I awoke one morning to find my bottle surrounded by sand. After a few hours, I had rested enough to make a leap for the opening at the top. I made it out of the bottle alive. I went off in search of food.

I restored my health on the beach, nibbling on food that had washed ashore. Party favors and old tables washed ashore in the next few days.

Many weeks later, I began to travel inland. It took me a whole day just to find some form of plant life, and that night I was careful to stay hidden.

Despite my efforts to stay away from owls, I still bumped into a snake. It lunged at me, puncturing my shoulder. It was just a rat snake, or else I'd be dead for sure. But I couldn't feel my arm anymore. The snake wrapped itself around me and I was about to be squeezed to death when an owl came out of nowhere, snatching the snake and I up and away.

The owl landed in a tree and killed the snake. I squirmed out of its clutches and fell to the forest floor. I decided to sleep for the rest of the night.

After the meeting, I woke up and found myself surrounded in...darkness. Great black trees loomed around me and I couldn't see daylight. All the light came from glowing mushrooms that sprouted from the leaf mold.

I'm still here and I can't find my way out. I keep seeing Scarlet, my old sidekick, but whenever I turn around she's gone. She always retreats deeper into the darkness.

I found some old white leaves to write on, in case I don't make it out of here alive. One can only survive on mushrooms for so long.

I've been here forever. Earlier today I felt a thunder in the ground. I went to inspect it, as any life form is better than the solitude I've been experiencing lately, but by the time I arrived the noise had passed, and scores of footsteps were in its place. But the footsteps faded as quickly as I came across them. What kind of magic does this forest posess?

A lady just ran by. I think it was...Cornelia Hornshaw. But it was probably another one of these tricks. I thought I saw my mother earlier today.

A tremor ran through the ground this morning. I could feel something evil sinking through the ground.

Every day I wander through the woods, only to find myself in the same place I began. My arm gets stiffer every day. It's swelling and slightly green. The mushrooms and humidity aren't helping.

Solitude.

I can feel my mind slipping. Like the water that drips from these vile mushrooms every minute. Every second. Wetness is everywhere.

My last piece of paper. My third piece today. Something is coming and it isn't good. I'm going to put this collection of letters on this tall rock where I'm drying more paper.

There is something in the shadows RIGHT NOW and I think it came to take me

  my final plea--please rescue me

  (if I don't die in a second!)

And that's the last document we found. There was no sign of a struggle where we found the notes, but the forest could've covered them back up.
