I'll start writing now. I'm kind of going fairy-tale-ish with knights and things, but if you don't like that, that can be something that's unique to my area.
I'm walking through the forest where my family lives for no particular reasons. Not my actual family, definitely not. I come from a family of dragon slayers; every boy in my family wanted to be a dragon slayer when he grew up. Girls dreamed of being kidnapped by a dragon and rescued by a famous knight. I on the other hand LOVED dragons. That's why I ran away.
Suddenly, I see a glint of silver armor. Knights!!!! I come out onto a nearby ledge, and then I see that it's not just knights. It's about a million of them.
"STOP!!!!!" I yell. "Who are you and what do you want??"
"We," the knight in the lead yells back, "are here to rid the forest of dragons once and for all!!!"
"WHAT???? What are you going to do with them???"
"The strong and healthy ones we shall execute on the King's birthday. The weaker and younger ones will be placed into the royal-- wait, who are you???"
I don't answer, instead I rush back into the forest. I have to warn my family.

I leap from rock to rock, nearing the small cavern where I know a dragon has recently made herself a nest. She isn't due to lay anytime soon, so she'll still be strong enough to ride. I smile, taking the rope the had been looped around my shoulder.
Approaching the cave from this direction, with the wind blowing in my face, means that the dragon won't be able to smell me until I get really close. But she might hear me. I creep as silently as I can to the entrance of the cave, and poke my head around to see inside. The dragon isn't there. Suddenly I feel warm air hit my back, and I turn to see the dragon right behind me. Her red/pink scales glisten in the morning sun. She's balancing on the top of the cliff, her tail hanging over the abyss.
I take the rope and start to move toward her. She backs up a little, but there isn't room for her to back up much because of the cliff behind her. I approach her another couple of steps. She shrieks at me and takes off. She flies over the chasm, then turns to circle back toward me. Perfect! Just like I wanted. As she comes toward me, I run to the edge of the cliff, and jump.
I land with a tiny thump on the dragon's back. Inching my way up bit by bit as she flies, I make my way up to her neck, where I gently tie the rope around her neck in a loose knot. I tie the other end of the rope around my own waist, guarantying that I won't fall off. She flies rapidly, the wind blowing in my face much faster than it had been while I was climbing the mountain to the dragon's cave. I look down and see the ground far below, which is full of trees. We're flying above the forest!
I untie the rope from her neck, quietly say my thanks to the dragon, though I know she can't understand me, and jump off, falling towards the forest floor at an alarming speed. I whistle as loud as I can, and Sunflame, (a tamed dragon, one of the ones bred in captivity and sold as house pets.) came up and grasped me gently between her claws, using them as a cradle to hold me. I had saved Sunflame after she had been abandoned as a hatchling, and trained her to hunt and fight. She had been loyal to me since then, and helped me whenever I needed her.
Her golden scaled skin sparkled brightly, (hence the name Sunflame) as she flew me down to safety.
The female leader of the group of dragons looks at me in concern. Speaking in the language of dragons, she asks: "What did you want to tell us, Siarra?"
Now is not the time to remind her that it's Draco. I start speaking, as quickly as I can manage in this language. I understand it, but I have trouble with the sounds.
"And they said that they're going to put the old and young dragons... somewhere. I'm not sure where--"
The knights attack. All I can hear is the clashing of swords, the roar of fire being breathed out. Smoke surrounds me.
"Run, Draco!" a dragon roars. I run, and in the smoke, end up bumping into a tree. Suddenly I hear the voices of several dragons, and I recognise them as the voices of the newest dragon warriors.
"The girl said they're going to execute us." That was Kerk, a dragon I really don't like.
"She did??? Oh, yes, I remember that!!! I don't want to die!!!! What are we going to do about it????" said a panicky voice.
"We should run," replied Kerk.
There were murmurs of agreement.
"And abandon Draco, and our family? No way! We will fight, and let's see them attempt to execute a dragon!" This was a new voice, the voice of Ferr, a dragon I didn't know well.
"Who's going to listen to you, wimp??? YOU can't even kill a human!!" Come on, friends. If the wimp wants to be eaten, then so be it! There was a rush of wings. All was still, and Ferr, the only noble dragon among the new warriors, as I now knew, came out, looking sad.
Only then I've noticed that the noises of battle have ceased. I walked into the clearing, only to find an enormous amount of dead knights-- and dragon blood.
"They're gone, Ferr. They're all gone."

Umm......good question. I believe that the dragons are not quite as intelligent as humans, but pretty darn close. But only a few people can actually understand what they are saying.
The last trees of the forest pass below me, just a blur of dark green as Xell and I approach the town. The wind blows in my face, carrying the scents of food all the way up from the market. My stomach growls, and Xell snorts.
"Down," I say, gently tugging on the rope around his neck. We descend, landing on the ground on the edge of town. A guard rushes forward to meet us. His badge says "Oakville Guard".
"Are you Elyana?" He asks.
"Yes," I say quietly. "You say you have a dragon problem?"
Oakville is small, but bustling with activity. It takes me almost ten minutes to get through the crowds to a house that would normally be just five minutes away. As I knock on the door, Xell is muttering something in Dragonian. All I can understand is "dragon", "food", and "wind".
"What are you talking about?" I sigh, wishing I could understand him better. Xell rolls his eyes. Not many humans are priveleged enough to witness the magnificent sight of a dragon rolling their catlike eyeballs. I get to see it almost every day, and it always makes me laugh.
While I'm still giggling, the door opens to reveal a middle-aged man in a green tunic. He looks slightly disappointed to find an 18-year-old girl and a 6-foot dragon standing on his doorstep.
"You're the dragon catcher?" he asks, incredulous.
"That's me."
"Come in, then." I follow him through the doorway into a simple home with four rooms. Oakville is too small to have any fancy houses, even for their leader. I sit down across from him at a table.
"I'm Tonsin, leader of Oakville. As you already know, there's a dragon causing trouble in our village. It steals food, damages property, and once even carried off a child." He pauses for a moment, shuddering. "Normally the dragons of the forest don't cause us any trouble, but this one has made its home in a cave nearby. We need you to catch it and move it back to the forest. That is, if you can handle it," he adds. His misgivings about me are almost funny.
"About how big is the dragon?" I ask. "Is it male or female?" I feel awkward asking questions, but I need to know.
"Um..." Tonsin seems to be at a loss for words. "Maybe around... 12 feet? I don't know what gender it is." Inwardly, I laugh. Xell is rolling his eyes again.
"I can do that. What's the payment?"
"10 gold pieces."
"Deal."
I'll post the rest later.

By the way, I changed my bio a bit:
Name: Siarra, but she always calls herself Draco.
She's not a dragon rider, she just lives with a group of dragons.
I'll start writing later, right now I have to go.

Haha! :D We said pretty much the exact same thing!
