March 31st's Poem:

March 31st's Poem: Limerick

Today's poem is a limerick. A limerick is a poem with only five lines. The first, second, and last line rhyme and have around 8 syllables. The fourth and fifth lines rhyme and have around 5 syllables. Here is one example:

I have a big brother named Drew,
Who decided to get a new do.
He took my big book,
And took a long look.
That's how he got his new hairdo.

Another example is:

There was an old woman named Sue,
Who decided to go to the loo.
She took a huge book,
It was on how to cook,
She ended up frying the poo.

Challenge: Try making up your own limerick about something funny that happened to you today. An example is:

There once was a boy named Brandon,
Who took a long walk in the garden.
He talked all the while,
Laughing like a child,
But if others talked he shushed them on.

Try your own!

Here's one:

There once was a father named Drew,

He liked to go walking for stew.

He took the cookbook,

and took a small look,

that's how we fried the dew.

That was fun! Laughing

There were four mice living together,

they talked about time and the weather.v

they stayed in a brown cage,

and ate corn, rice, and sage,

then slept snugly on beds of heather.
