I STILL CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING!!!!!!! WRITER'S BLOCK :( :( :(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dreams. Dreams dreams dreams dreams. Other than that, Fanfic, HiFi, or they just come to me over time. For example, last year my story was a vague half-formed idea floating in the back of my mind. Today, if I wrote it all down, it would be three times as long as Warriors. And Warriors is still being written!

Take two of your fav things and clask 'em together! My most recent novel was about wolves and dragons.

What did you pretend when you were a kid? Insert time-travel or your favorite fantasy creature into that, and there's a basic idea. To come up with characters, draw pictures of them, and try to read as much as you can into their expressions.

Although I've never done it on purpose to come up with an idea, most of my good ideas can be traced back to that sort of thing.

Ideas that I have so far:

Some siblings whose dad invented the time machine, but get tempted to use it for evil purposes and end up trying to kill each other?

3 kids trying to calm the Greek and Roman gods who want to have a war with each other?

A unicorn who has magical powers, and the evil witch wants to steal it, kill it, and use its horn as her wand, but some kids have to try and save the unicorn and help it escape _____Land?

Dreams, as Kat said (though rarely. Besides, my dreams are usually either weird or disturbing. Or both) Or, if I say, see a word like Dragon, I am sometimes suddenly inspired by that word. Or something like that. Songs also work well too. Or Google something, look at a picture, and write your story based on that. Of course, you can always Google, "Story Idea Generator" or something like that if you're feeling lazy. :-)
