Does anyone want to continue GloWorm's brilliant idea? Except that this time we would have a deadline for pairs to be chosen and also a deadline to finish all stories/poems. ***No one would be allowed to start until all the pairs were set up*** --Otherwise there is a lot of chaos. Afterwards there would be a contest, and the winners would be chosen by judges... Admins could input if they wanted as well. So is anyone ready for a fresh start? If so, please post a writing sample and the type of genre you would like to write: Fantasy, Mystery, Action/Adventure, Hist. fiction, Romance, and Sci-fi.

@Leaf I think that's really great! What genre(s) would you prefer?
Like the length of it, it gives me a good base to look at. Evaluate. Whatever you want to say.

@Trixy: Thanks! Okay. Genres. I will narrow it down this time... I will! I can do it! Um. Fantasy/sci-fi. There, I did it. And I am still alive. :) :) Though, if need be, I can be placed in any other genre - I'm flexible.

Here is an exerpt from a story I'm writing right now. The whole story SO FAR is up on Inkwell. The beginning that u will see 2 click on is STORY I AM WRITING... if u wanna read it, that is. I hope u enjoy!
Agatha flew to the base of Oak Tree, her wings flitting with excitement. Today was her first day on the job- she was fairy Dust Supplier, exactly what she had hoped for! As she passed other fairies, most lounging around, she didn’t notice the few that obviously were not happy with their jobs.
“Mom, today’s the day I start my job!” she shouted gleefully when she landed under her mushroom roof. (By the way, when new fairies earn their jobs, the other fairies retire. Each year the one year old fairies earn their jobs.) Mom, whohad retired last year, stood by the stem of the house cooking grass stew over an open fire. Agatha’s mouth watered, but she continued. “This means, Mom, that in less than ten minutes, I’ll be managing fairy dust! I love fairy dust!” Mom turned to face Agatha, grinning.
“I knew you’d be excited, Agatha. After a year of school, every day when you came home you were chatting with one of your friends about fairy dust!” Now Agatha smiled, placing her small hands on her freshly pierced ears. All fairies got their ears pierced after the meeting for careers.
“I just wish we got to work for more than a year!” she complained, plopping down on a pebble chair. But then she glanced at her watch, and realized that if she didn’t get going now, she would be late for work. She grabbed her coat off a twig hook, called goodbye to Mom, and flew off in a rush of excitement and hurry.

Ok, Rachel and Clair can be paired for a fantasy story (if that's okay). I'm afraid that you'll have to wait a bit before you can start writing together, because it could get a bit chaotic. However you can start planning if you want. My plan was to make all the writing threads myself so it would be less messy but that's okay if you want to.
Hmmm...
I guess if you really wanted you could start writing, but I would like to assign a time limit before you start.
***Note: if desired Comedy is also a possible genre.

I wouldn't mind pairing up with someone. I already have a story w/ Wolfgirl, but two is ok. I like fantasy best, but some sci-fi in the mix is fine too. Here is my writing sample:
A large cave was before them. And in its center, on top of a pile of golden treasure and baubles, sat a dragon. Its scales were as red as rubies and reflective, and golden spikes were ridged down its back. Its eyes were slitted, looking right at them, and a thin trail of smoke came from its nostrils. Its wings were folded on its back and its long tail curled around its horde.
Corelle’s heart stopped for a moment, and her breath caught in her throat. Then it came back, pounding hard. She grabbed Robyn’s wrist and they dashed back the way they had come, just around the corner out of sight. “It-it saw us,” breathed Corelle.
Robyn was astonished. “I didn’t think dragons really existed! How does it live underground? Where did it get all those jewels?”
“I don’t know,” Corelle answered her, “But we can’t stand here speculating! I think it saw us!”
Robyn looked annoyed. “Well if you know what we’re supposed to do, tell me.”

I assume you want something in the genre we signed up for, so here's something from the beginning of my JulNo. Also, sorry if the spacing is messed up -- spaces get deleted sometimes when I copy and paste from Word.
Imagine.
Imagine soaring through space. All around you is darkness with only tiny pinpricks of light. But you are drawn by a deeper darkness – the darkness of a black hole. It sucks you in, and you feel a jolt go through you as you pass into it.
There is no light inside it, not even that of stars.
Youcontinue to be pulled in, at increasing speed. The great gravity draws you in and in.
And then you come up against a barrier. You slip and fall on a hard floor.
Two bright lights blink on. They are, you can now see, coming from the eyes of a robot. It bends down and helps you up.
"Good. Afternoon," it says in a friendly, if mechanical, voice. "Do. You. Have. Identification?"

Thanks Rachel and Clair, that really helps.
Okay... I think Leaf and ZNZ could pair up for a sci-fi story if that's alright with them. I could also put Leaf together with Emily for a fantasy story but I think Emily has a quite a different writing style.
