First sentence writing

First sentence writing contest 

I had this idea (from a book) where the judge will pick a first sentence from a book, and then everyone else has to write a brand new storyline for that sentence, whether you recognize it or not. Would you guys like to give it a try?

Just a short story, like the writing contest. Only instead of a word for a prompt, it's a first sentence of whatever book that becomes the first sentence of your short story :) I'll post the sentence tomorrow
