Hi, I am writing a story right now where the character has really bad memories from when their dad passed away and things like cleaning supplies bring them back to them. They're kind of important to the plot and I can't get them to seem real or bad really. Any suggestions?

Hmmm...perhaps you could use flashbacks (start in present tense then switch to past tense, or start in past tense and switch to perfect tense) when a cleaning supply triggers memories about the dad in your story.
