status: AWAKE.

you're clem. you're nineteen. you go to a prestigious college on the western seaboard.

you've been invited by the wealthiest guy in your year to his family's island estate for the summer. it's a great honor. you don't really have anything better to do, and your family is very excited by the idea that a boy has asked you to spend the summer with him. so, you accepted the invitation.

currently, you're aboard a zeppelin, on your way to the estate. your cabin is quite cozy, with high-quality paneling and a TELEPHONE. it's a bit noisy, though.

your SUITCASE sits next to your BED. on the DESK are your ASTROLOGY BOOK and your DREAM INTERPRETATION BOOK. at the far end of the room is a small WINDOW. the DOOR is just behind you.

-objects you can interact with are indicated in CAPITAL LETTERS. 

-this game is intended for multiple players! in the event that multiple people give me a command at one time, whoever posted first takes precedent. commands will be carried out sequentially, given that they're still possible.

with a click, you unlock your suitcase and dump its contents onto the floor. particular objects of note include the LETTER from your host, your MELATONIN PILLS, and the HEIRLOOM HATPIN that belonged to your great-great-great-grandmother.

from above your head, you hear somebody cough into the INTERCOM system.

Voice from the Intercom: This is your first mate speaking. Prepare for descent — I repeat, prepare for descent. Estimated arrival in forty minutes.

you can't see much — the clouds make sure of that — until they suddenly clear. below you is miti island. a.k.a. where you will be staying this summer. it's actually... kinda beautiful, which you weren't expecting. lush greenery covers the eastern side of the island, and on its western side is an enormous mountain... or is it a volcano? smack-dab in the middle of everything is a mansion surrounded by smaller houses and a snaky fence; the compound. for the first time on this journey, you're actually excited to be away from home. this is exciting. so exciting you try to

or rather, clamber out. you're now on a catwalk. the wind plays with your hair like you're a toy poodle in the lap of a dowager. standing not forty feet away from you and also looking down at the island is KEITH. he invited you here. in the other direction is a set of STAIRS.

that was probably a smart idea. by your estimate, the zeppelin lands in thirty minutes. imagine if you were on the island without your hatpin... your mother would kill you.

much better. the front deck of the zeppelin is wide and mostly empty. at the prow is a SET OF MOUNTED BINOCULARS. a LADDER leads up to the bridge. the INTERCOM switches on again:

Voice from the Intercom: We now begin our final descent onto Miti Island. Please remain close to an indoor entrance, in the event of air turbulence. We have received word that Mount Mealilo may be active in the coming days.

you don't know what a mount mealilo is. but it doesn't sound great.
