Chatterbox: Inkwell
My quilting teacher
My quilting teacher spouts off random funny rhymes on occasion, and one of them bugged me 'till I gave it a more complete poem. So the first two stanzas are mine, and who knows where the other one came from.
In the baby-makin' workshop
They go 'round with trays of stuff
And hand out all the things those children need -
"Would you like some of his? Some of hers? Some of mine?"
And the babies pick out all their favorite things.
I was in the back on hand-out day
My ears weren't working yet
But they made me pick my bits out anyway
And I didn't do so well, but I didn't have a choice
So now the things I got are here to stay.
When they handed out brains,
I thought they said "pains"
So I didn't get any
When they handed out looks
I thought they said "books"
So I didn't get any (Bad! Not a CBer)
When they handed out noses
I thought they said "roses"
So I got a big red one.
There are lots more you could make up there. :D Anywho, let me know what you think! Sharp, biting criticism, preferably. Seriously. :D

I have heard the nose part before, but I don't know where...
I really liked your stuff, the beginning. It is a good intro.

Thanks, Lauren. I've seen the end a couple of other places, too, I think. Hard to say, though.

LOL! It was humorous. Sorry, but I'm no expert on humorous poetry, so I can't say much more...

I really liked it! :) I think I've heard the brains part somewhere, but I just can't put my finger on it. It's right at the tip of my tongue...

Thanks, Ima and Ema! I still like it, and that a full week after writing it. That must be something of a record. :D

@ Ema: re: "When they handed out brains / I thought they said "pains" "... Personally, when I read that I immediately thought "Oh, yeah, the Scuttle song... 'In fact all three without a doubt / Missed the day that brains were handed out.' " But I think that's just me, yes?
Anyway, regarding the actual poem, Emily, I like it. :)
Too many quotation marks up there, sorry...
