The Scrambled Sentences

The Scrambled Sentences is the name for this thing that I've thought up where there are 2 very unrelated sentences at the beginning. After that every 1- or 2-sentence post that's submitted is trying to link the beginning sentences together. This sounds very confusing, so here's an example:

First sentence
The explorers were not planning to have to cope with tent mites.

Second sentence
Enola's luggage got lost completely; she suspected that it was either in San Francisco or Belfast by now, and she hoped that it was Belfast.

Third sentence
The explorers had to burn the tent completely, so they stopped their exploration and went to the tent shop in the nearest city to get a new tent.

Fourth sentence
There was a souvenir of Stonehenge wrapped in the new tent.

Fifth sentence
Enola hadn't lost her travel journal, and for some reason she got it out of her hand luggage, flipping through the pages of the Archaeologist's Society Tour of Europe 2022 log, and one word stood out: Stonehenge.

These sentences are not at all relevant to the actual first round of The Scrambled Sentences. It is preferable for sentences to be either one or two sentences long, and to be in third person.  If this is over too quickly, we can start a new one. There is no deadline to join, but read through the sentences that have already been posted before you post a sentence or two. When there is one sentence that is suggested as the ending by whoever posts it and is a good ending, then we start a new round. If you have any questions, ask me. Enjoy it!!

Okay. Here comes the first sentence...

The typewriter wasn't working at all, much to the dismay of Mr. Greeling, who was trying to type out a seven-page document.

TOP.

Also.

If you want to reply to the first sentence with a second one (completely unrelated to the first one about the typewriter), then please do so before August 8, which gives you two weeks from the first sentence's posting.

@Lupine, are you interested in this???

Second sentence:

Della had lost her water bottle, again, which was what she was doing in school on a Saturday.

Unfortunately that didn't explain anything, as red ink gushed from the faded keys, like each stroke was meant to be a seperate royal stamp.

In the school office, where Della had to check in (according to the sign) the receptionist, who appeared to be doing paperwork, was shaking a red pen and gritting her teeth at it.

Mr. Greeling had given up after only one page and already his hands were soaked. He tried to hand-write it, but his handwriting was too messy; he supposed that the document was done for. He shook the pen in disgust.

Suddenly, in the school office, the receptionist's pen exploded, drenching Della with red ink. She suddenly found the courage to say that she was there to find her water bottle.

Also.

Today is the day to make this drastic implementation: If by the end of February I am still shouting into the void, then it's the end of the thread. It will wither. Maybe when I can get more CBers to read threads I will do it again.
